Title: Orchid?
Post by: gertie50 on June 19, 2013, 09:26:07
Morning all,

Went to mow the lawn this morning and found this. I'm no flower expert, but to me it looks like some kind of Orchid.

What do you think?

Many thanks,

Oh yes...! :icon_cheers: Looks very much like it :icon_cheers:
Lucky you...I hope you can leave small area where it is growing to grow and let the orchid live and multiply  :icon_cheers:
Could you take another photo with the foliage?
How tall is it...does the flowers have a scent? Is your garden established/old or turned into one within last few years from patch of wild area/field?

Hello Goodlife,

The Orchid is 5inches tall. The foliage you see in the picture is all that it has on it, it's half eaten at that.

still beautiful though.

Thank you for the links,

Gertie

Looks like one of the spotted orchids, but they hybridise like mad, and I wouldn't want to go any further than that.
