Loads and loads of long grass and nettles, not only on my allotment but the edges and uncultivated ones next to mine. Lovely lady lent me a tool today, called it a scythe but it was very small, had a wooden handle and the blade was verigated like a bread knive but bigger indentations, if you see what I mean. I think it was old, but it worked perfectly, sorry to have to give it back. Have looked up scythettes and brushing hooks on the internet, but the scythettes seem to have knife blades, not verigated or what ever you call it. I really want one, and want it now, as my sears are useless and have been pulling up the long grass by the handful. Anyone on here, clever people, know the right name for this tool, so I can google it and buy one. Thank you. :blob7: Clever Kev might know, if he is not watching silly football when lovely tennis will be on soon, Nadal, I love you.
Could it be a sickle? I got one from green fingers to cut the comfrey down. Just looked & they haven't got it now.
Looked up sickle, but similar to scythette can't see one that has the variagated edge, not the knife edge. Maybe it was an old tool, but it did work.
I think the word I need is serrated, think I found a firm, but it is in the USA. Will keep searching on the internet.
What about this one

The only problem with serrated blades is they are an utter pain to sharpen, which is why we used to use unserrated grass hooks at work.
Many thanks for that information, Digeroo and Uncle Filthster.
