My plot neighbour had got a raised bed area for his potatoes, but in order to achieve this he has dug a trench around it, right up to the my plot boundary, so my soil now is gradually sliding down his hole. It will not be long before my carrots are sticking out of the soil.
I asked him nicely if he could fill in the hole and he said it was not a problem and it was causing a storm in a teacup. He said it was fine and did not matter if it upset me.
Any advise please. Had this happen on my other plot too, why do people dig holes?
Take the soil back or put a slab edging in.
I wouldn't stand for him and he woukdnt speak like that to me again
I am not sure who spoke worse to who, I have to admit I did end up calling him an arrogant sod.
I'd edge it then the buffoon can do what he likes and you can garden on in peace :happy7:
I cannot put slabs the last foot of my plot now drops off a foot so is at an angle of about 45 Degrees, also people would see it as a path and walk across.
I have started to put some £1 shop bamboo edging along, but not sure it will hold if he starts digging down even further.
Neither he nor the previous plot holders have added anything to the soil, so the level is gradually sinking. I add lots of biomatter so my plot is gradually rising, expect that area was a grass path full of weeds and as a favour to the previous people I got rid of it to get rid of the weeds. Actually when I took it over the entire piece was covered in weeds. It has been 5 ft high in fat hen, so it is chock full of fat hen seeds. At the moment I am trying to grow carrots.
Put the slab in vertically. Like a retaining wall to hold back the soil.
