Title: What's eating these maple leaves?
Post by: Squash64 on June 04, 2013, 12:22:28
(//)

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend....

She's noticed that quite a few leaves on her young maple tree are
being eaten by something, any ideas anyone?

Looks more like a leaf cutter bee has been getting material for her egg cells than something like caterpillar damage.  There are a few leaf cutters about at the moment.

Thank you Uncle, I'll tell my friend.

I thought leaf cuter bees made a more circular less jagged notches in the leaves.
it looks more like vine weevil damage to me but I'd be happy to be wrong!

Have you had hail showers and strong winds recently?
