Title: Shower not working
Post by: cornykev on May 21, 2013, 16:35:55
As the title probably gives away, my showers not working, it gives a quick spurt and stops with the low pressure light coming on, a couple of times a month it would do this, but work 5 mins later, but this time nothing it just won't come on and been like it for a few days, before I call a plumber are there any experts on here or anyone had this problem and got it sorted.    :BangHead:

Do you get limescale, down here in dorset we do and this builds up in the showerhead and you get a back pressure so you have to dismantle it and clean out the chalky bits, a bit of acid works

As Paul W suggests, may well be scale.

Remove hose and try to run shower without hose.
If it works, then the problem is in the hose/head.
Remove head, rinse shake bang soak in vinegar.

If unit doesn't run without hose....... sorry call plumber

Unlikely, but do check any isolating valves are fully open.

Is it a direct feed or from a header tank? If your direct water pressure is low check for a leak anywhere after it comes past your house stopcock. But if it is gravity fed from a header tank, check that the ball valve is not sticking.

Most showers are fitted with an inlet filter which can become blocked its in the main inlet valve.
If the inlet soloniod has gone then it wont turn the shower on cost about £31.00.

Have you tried searching the make some have a problem site.

He can't come tonight so he'll be here tommorrow, must admit now you come to mention it Ace I am chucking up a bit, I wondered why no one sat next to me on the bus all week. I might ask the OH to give us a hosing down in the back garden later, might even break out my bar of carbolic soap.   :tongue3:
