Title: Spent malt and hops
Post by: Pescador on May 15, 2013, 20:32:27
Feels like it's Christmas Time!!
I've just been invited to take all the spent malt and hops from the local micro-brewery at one of the pubs where I sell my Pickles, Jams and Chutneys.
Fantastic soil conditioner, great publicity (drink more beer, get more chutney), and sustainable production!!

I haven't been invited but I did phone up & ask :icon_cheers:. We usually collect on a Friday. The car smells lovely :icon_cheers: when we've collected.

Just one thing worth noting, apparently spent hops can be poisonous to dogs. Never saw any evidence of this when we had a dog (I use a lot of spent hops) but if you google, there is quite a lot of info on the web.
