Hi all. I want to take  a cutting of a mate's Jasmine, but last time I tried this, it died :( Could anyone tell me how to do it successfully.
Thanks

I think you make the cut near a node, just above a leaf and the whole cutting should be about 10 cm long with a couple of leaves attached.
Stick the end into some some cutting gel then into some compost with sand.  If it is very cold, cover the lot with a plastic bag and wait.  I think the best to do this would be in autumn.  But don't take my word for it !
Good luck!

The indoor types need a fair amount of bottom heat and take all Wiinter to root. If it is an outdoor hardy type then layering is as easy a method as any. Just lay a piece on the soil, put a weight on each leaf joint and wait!

Mine has layered itself a few times (must learn to train it properly!) So give that a go...

Groovy, thanks everyone. Fingers crossed I'll have some luck. I think I'll pinch a few bits and give it all a go.
