Title: shallot sets

I have found some shallots in my shed that are OK are they still OK to plant or have I left it too late also I have some red onion sets as well are they too late as well

Put them in you should get a crop from them,i saved my shallot sets last from year and put them in last week,as long as they have not gone soft or got mould near the roots you should be ok

Its worth looking in the garden centres now,for remaindered onion sets. They will grow nice green shoots at least and can be used as salad onions before the scallions are ready. Also many reductions on seed potatoes , its not too late and the prospect for the commercial crop is dire with currently only 20% of last years volume planted up to April 14th (According to Newsnight ,BBC !)
