Title: Eating Dahlias
Post by: Chrispy on April 19, 2013, 20:28:47
Has anybody tried eating Dahlia tubers?

I have only just discovered they are edible.

At the moment my stomach is sending messages to my brain saying 'Don't you dare', but the idea of cooking some for my brother is very tempting, that's after his comment about my roasted squash was 'needs custard'.

well you can dye with them. :tongue3:
Not die from them but lets be honest would they be nicer than a potato?

There was a bit about this (and other edible ornamentals) on Radio 4 this morning.

Jerusalem artichokes have a texture and aroma that reminds me of dahlias when I harvest them.

I'm growing Queensland Arrowroot this year - otherwise the canna you see in park border displays! That too is supposed to be like JAs.
