Title: Food safe wood preservative?
Post by: cestrian on April 08, 2013, 19:13:42
What does everyone use for wood preservative on raised beds. I'm a bit worried about chemicals leaching in to the soil and then into my veg and then in to the food chain!!

If you used pressure treated wood such as decking fencing etc then it should last for years without any treatment when this timber is treated with pressure it it will not leach onto the soil .When you have to treat your timber the stuff you buy these days are safe unlike creosote was in the old days.I am sure that creosote is banned now anyway so you should be safe with standard fence treatment but do check the tin before you buy
