Post by: clackvalve on April 07, 2013, 21:54:11
Hi,
My Dahlia tubers have been in the cupboard all winter and have stayed "solid".
I am now wondering how i wake them up. do i take them out of the cupboard and into daylight indoors or keep them in the cupboard until al risk of frost have past and then plant them out?
a few of the tubers have strated to sprout

I have put my 6 in a tray of compost. quick water. someone advised on here not to let them dry out. I have been spraying them damp each day.
I hope I am doing the right thing. Lets hope it gets a bit warmer soon x

Yep.. bring them 'out' and plant them into pots or trays so that where the tubers join the stem is just about showing. I don't tend to fill the pots up right up to the rim at this stage but once the growth start I can then top the compost level up later on.
Not only they need light but little bit of warmth would get them into flying start.
