Title: Only two eyes on chitting spuds
Post by: cestrian on April 07, 2013, 00:35:27
Someone told me today that you should only allow two eyes on chitting spuds and you should rub all the others out to maximise your crop. I've never heard this before. Does anyone else do this?

Fewer shoots are supposed to give fewer but larger spuds, and more shoots give a higher number of smaller ones.
Personally, I plant them without rubbing any off, you never know how many may get damaged when planting, eaten by slugs or damaged by frost.
