Just wondered if anyone is going to be doing a horse today? and if so, what are you fancying?
Part 2 to this question is.. what are your views on the subject?
I understand they have lost a horse on day 1 of Aintree this week.
I am of mixed opinion myself, altho I am against all animal cruelty. I feel that without the race being majestic and properly regulated as it is now, it would be driven underground and all sorts would go on.
I used to live near the racecourse and we would get 6d to bet on a horse every year as long back as I remember :toothy10:
It's the only time we bet, just couple each. Got what a friend, weird Al 'cos our youngest is al and he dressed up as pinocchio for his 32nd birthday and of course seabass.
The race can be awful but not as bad as when I was a child
A 2nd horse died on Friday, I barely bet on the gee gee's these days but will have a few sheckles on this one. :happy7:
Kev, you won't win much if you bet on a dead horse. I will stick with the lottery, I hate the Grand National, so there.
I hate Tennis, so there.
I have backed 'Soll' in the race today. Also a shiney pound on the rank outsider 'any currency'
Lets hope all runners and riders make it back safely.
A couple of yrs ago was with my daughter in town when I remembered the Grand National was on ,I quickly said "there a bookies come on lets get a wee bet on" I wrote out the slip with the horses we wanted and payed the bet and the tax ! got outside the bookies and my daughter said MAM were did you learen to put on a bet on the horses !and write out a betting slip? miss spent youth was all I could say :toothy10:
Its the only time I have a flutter & the kids get to choose a horse too!
Husband, myself & daughter didn't get anything - 14 yr old son bet on an outsider
80-1 and won £127 !!!! :icon_cheers:
When we all asked what he was doing with his winnings, he said he would put it straight in the bank (bless him)
