Title: Rhubarb at last
Post by: Pescador on April 02, 2013, 14:56:51
At last I've been able to start harvesting some rhubarb. Picked 4kg on Sunday for crumble, rhub + blueberry jam, and Sweet & Sour Rhubarb and Chilli Chutney. Had to go back to work today for a rest!! Blooming Bank Holidays are exhausting.

mine were bought as a new plant back in nov. with about 4 buds or so underneath the compost in a 3l pot, a Timperley Early. It was planted out straightaway in an E-facing loamy bed but it's only about 4" in leaf size at the most and the stems are 2/3" at the most. Is this to be expected for a newly planted crown? I know I won't get a crop this year, but next year a couple and by the third a proper crop.
