Title: Sowing onion seeds early April?
Post by: the_snail on March 26, 2013, 11:30:25
I have not yet sown my onion seeds as I normally sow them early march but this nice spring weather (end sarcasm) has really put me off. I would like to grow from seed this year is there still time to sow and get a good crop?

Thanks

I normall sow onions and leeks Jan / early Feb, if you sow now you will still get a crop just a bit smaller, you could always plant some sets as well to cover all bases

No problem - sow them now. I only started mine a couple of weeks ago and they are just staring to show. Sow them in small modules (two seeds per module) and pull out the weakest That means they will have less root disturbance when planted out and won't suffer a check.
