Popular vegetable in our house, grown it for last 4 years. Treat it as normal large type caulis.
Best results for uniformity, vigour & taste so far has been Romanesco "Navona" from SimplySeed.co.uk which is my choice again this year.
Its also freezes very well.

It seems easier to grow than "normal" cauliflowers in the summer, ok I can grow it so must be easier!
Just treat as any brassica and keep the birdies away!

I think I read that you can just take what you need off the plant & the rest will survive.

Love them, so much easier than cauli, no need to cover to stop the sun, taste really good and are better for you . can you tell I like them  :toothy10:
Oh, and they freeze well

Franchi have packets with loads of seeds in - 1800.

Not sure about cut and come again with Romanesco.  Actually do not stand for a long time, you have to catch them quick.  Slugs also like them.

Great flavour and a silky smooth texture.  Well worth growing.

For cut and come again brocolli I would recommend Sticcoli.

Yes I have grown romanesco in the past, it's sort of the texture of a cauli but the taste of a broccoli! It's nice. I found it easy to grow, so easy that I didn't know what it was until it sprouted ( a friend gave me some plants but thought they were cabbages!). I have some seeds this year funnily enough but I haven't prepared my seed bed yet thru the bad weather so I will probably sow them in April.

Romanescos are popular with me also. Better than calabrese for flavour but a bit more difficult to grow. They need constant good growing conditions and also a fairly long growing season, but early sowing is a mistake in any year not just this one.
Most of my crop gets frozen, its really easy to use from the freezer if you have a bag of free-flowing frozen florets you can tip out just as much as you want with no wastage. Something about Romanesco on my plate makes me look round for the cheese sauce.

I've never had much luck with caulis tho I can grow broccoli and other brassicas OK.  i've ordered some Romanesco seeds which should arrive next week some time.   Do I need any special tecniques or tips to get good germination and growth?
