Title: Quick question!
Post by: Karen Atkinson on March 25, 2013, 09:06:01
Have decided to start off red onions indoors in pots as too cold to plant outside. Compost is very dry so do I water or not? Also, do I just push the root bit in and leave most of bulb just on surface?

Just a quick answer...yes..little bit of water, compost don't have to be wet but little moisture/dampness get the roots going.
I push my onions 'in' so that just a tip of the little bulb show above the soil  = most of the set in. They will come up as they grow so it don't hurt to have them little deeper to start with.
