Title: Soil PH Level
Post by: steve1967 on March 23, 2013, 16:07:37
Hi All,

I tested samples of soil from different areas of my plot today.

They all gave a reading of  7.0 to 7.5 neutral to akaline.  This year when I plant my brassicas I intended to put a small amount of lime in each hole as I plant.

With the readings I have got would it be better not to add the lime or will it be ok???

My soil is about the same as yours but I still mix a bit of lime into the planting hole. Discourages clubroot IMO. However you could probably get away without if you wanted to be frugal. Any manure will lower the ph so a bit of lime added now and again maintains the levels for brassica and beans.
