Title: What Happened to my Walla Walla?
Post by: davejg on March 16, 2013, 19:50:24
Planted some electric onion sets & some seed grown Walla Walla onions in the autumn same as last year (thanks Jeannine). The electric are fine but every one of the ww has disappeared without trace. I Know its not been to cold, my thought is to wet?

Most of mine have vanished too. Last year I had the best over-wintering onions ever, but this year they have died in the soggy cold or been eaten by desperate creatures. Very frustrating. Am filling in gaps with new spring sets, but still too cold......

Try dibbing a hole and filling with sharp sand before you plant out onion's or garlic.

I lost mine last year as well when I grew them over winter. I understand that they are best as an overwinter crop, but I planted a few last month. You never know!
