Title: thanks to my son-in -law
Post by: claybasket on February 26, 2013, 10:56:22
I just thought I'd share this ,I love art and painting like alot of pepole ,when I was in my fifty's decided to go to collage full time doing fine art,was offered a place at Aberdeen Uni but decided to let some young person get the place,I painted away in my spare time ,then we decided to move to be near my son in Essex as they wanted to start a family, also the weather would be better for my asthma and arthritis ,well since i moved I never picked up a paint brush I felt like my mojo was gone ,that was seven yrs ago since I moved, family and hubby asked whats wrong why don't you paint something? I'd just say I,couldn't be bothered, but at Xmas my Son-in -law Dar who is quit creative saw a painting that I'd done ten years ago ,we'd just framed it and put it up as it looked nice in our newly decorated room, and O H refused to buy a painting when I'd ton under the bed, anyway Dar out of the blue said he loved the painting witch was a copy of Georgia O Keefs but with my own changes in it, he then asked me to paint the same but in purple shades and blue, I found myself saying yes! I will ! after they went home to Scotland I thought I couldn't do it ,it was to long since I'd painted , then OH said draw it if you don't like it bin IT AND DO IT AGAIN! now get out your stuff Dar wants that painting ! and I did and am almost finished it in Purple with a little twist in the colour,  was scarred at first but think I've got my mojo back thanks Dar .

Staying creative is good for the aging brain so don't let fear stop it. As a dabbler in painting, I'd also like to see your finished project. Please be brave and post which might inspire the rest of us to get back into a former hobby!

I like painting too.  I find it very relaxing, but have never quite got to grips with the fact the results do not look like Rembrandt.  :BangHead:  I am better a drawing, as soon as I put colour on it all going wrong.  I quite enjoy painting flowers.
