Winter is a nice time to gaze at pictures of cottage gardens and make plans & dream a bit.
My favorite way is to type "Cottage Garden" into the address line and press Enter then click on IMAGES instead of Web on the Google page. Hundreds and hundreds of pictures of people's cottage gardens come up. Some I slide off onto my desktop if they give my a good idea. Also, if you click on the picture, some will go back to the article they were taken from and give details about the plants etc. Have any of you Cottage Garden lovers tried this?
Lovely thanks for this idea. Some of the gardens/pics are amazing. I had been looking for a project this year and getting more floral colour into my allotment looks like a good way to go.
I have done some 'snooping' time to time :icon_cheers: and like mentioned here before, some larger gardens have allowed their gardens being included into google earth 'tour'. Good way to check if the place is worth of visit in first place.
Perharps I should do more 'snooping and dreaming' and 'see' my garden in its potential glory :drunken_smilie:..with chickens and current dog the garden gets some rough time..my planting at the moment is 'what ever will survive' style.
We don't have the "chicken and dog problem" but deer, Japanese Beetles and some rabbit damage, though the foxes keep their numbers down perhaps. Maybe that's why casual cottage gardening seems to fit better: if some plants go missing, who is to know? My other intractable problem is getting hubby to appreciate plants spilling and billowing into pathways :BangHead:

Ah yes...that is 'perennial' problem here too..'they get on his way when he is barrowing'. Funny how I can walk through with my tools and barrow without 'getting my eyes poked through' (as he claim is about to happen...over these years it never has happened...)
So funny! He has the same wheelbarrow objection and can only see the path in a utilitarian way. I show him every cottage garden picture I find with plants foaming gracefully over the path edges like waves--all to naught. Now he has a new objection: he'll brush against plants with deer ticks and get Lyme's Disease. :BangHead:
