Title: His friend was kicked in the head last night
Post by: Squash64 on February 22, 2013, 15:39:08
My 19 year old grandson's friend was attacked in a club in Birmingham
last night.  The person who did it was drunk and accused the friend of
looking at his girlfriend then knocked him to the floor and started kicking
his head. My grandson was in the club, but not nearby when it happened.
He went with his friend in the ambulance to hospital where the friend was
kept in overnight and discharged this morning.

This was an unprovoked attack.  His friend was not looking at the attacker's
girlfriend.  My grandson and his friends all have full-time jobs and are
all good, decent young men. (I'm not just saying that, they really are)

It is such a worry having children and grandchildren who are old enough to
go out to clubs.

So sorry to hear about this, Betty. I hope he is ok. My son's friend, 6'3 and a black belt in karate was jumped from behind and beaten to the ground many years ago, just because the bloke wanted to.
I worry about our grandson, 14. Don't want him to be frightened but what will he be facing in a couple of years  :sad11:

My grandson is at that age now and it's really scary.
Sorry to hear about your grandsons friend Betty,it can be a nasty world out there particularly when you're
not looking for trouble.

I got 'rat packed' one night a long time ago by a crowd of young drunks. A big mistake as I could still get up after the kicking. Three in hospital and I was nearly arrested, but thanks to some witnesses who told the police I was only protecting myself, I just came away with a warning and a few bruises. What do you reckon, the police never did anything to the gang as they said my actions were excessive. But I bet they never bothered anybody again.

His friend must have been quite badly hurt because he wasn't able to
get up.  I think the main worry these days is if knives are being carried.
My grandson said that usually everyone is checked when going into the club
but last night they weren't so they were lucky in that respect.

Couldn't say it better than Cam.  Makes no sense.  Let's hope for a speedy recovery both for the victim and for your grandson who had to experience this mindless unexplainable violence.

xx

My son was beaten and kicked in the face at school. The A&E Doctor was so shocked he'd got the injuries at school.  Three days later the same group of boys attacked him again. The school did nothing neither did the police, I don't think the boys were even punished. My son has Asperger's Syndrome.

However he's now at Uni, just over 7 ft tall....guys like to have ago at him all the time because of his height. He has a job in one of the biggest nightclubs in Plymouth so I worry about him walking home in the early hours. But it was middle of the day when some guy with a knife tried to mug him and my son broke the guys arm. It was all on CCTV and the police were just round the corner and arrived during the incident in time to call an ambulance for the mugger. My son would have been arrested if there had be no cctv.

Kea, that's really awful, I'm so sorry.

So many of us know people who have been attacked for no reason.

A Police officer went to talk to my grandson this morning but
GS  was having a driving lesson at the time.  Police told my daughter
they were taking it seriously and it had been passed on to the CID.
