just a quick question I was wondering is it pos. to  grow shallots in containers

No probs Dave - just plant them out and make sure you dont let them dry out. A bit of general fertilizer in 6 weeks or so will help them. Pot size - bigger the better.

They've got a fair old root system on them so give them some depth...

Show pickling shallots are often large exhibition shallots grown in small pots so that they starve and produce perfectly round small shallots.
