Title: Rhubarb Heaven
Post by: Digeroo on January 31, 2013, 21:36:20
Before I went on hols I put a bucket over some of my rhubarb so I have three small stems.  Zapped them with apple juice in the microwave and eating with yogurt.  It is lovely.

Pity someone nicked the bucket. :BangHead:

I think that is what is called Champagne Rhubarb  :drunken_smilie:(forced) if you do it to the same plant all the time it will kill it.
I have two large clumps and I alternate the forcing each year. After the first picking the cover is removed allowing the plant to recover. Very very nice with custard

Rhubarb will not grow in my garden so now I have it at the lottie I have lots of clumps probably 14.  So I have only got two covered at the moment.   There will be another few small stems soon.  Yum.  There is another I would like to cover but I will have to find something to cover it that no body wants to pinch.  I  have started using old potting compost bags supported by canes which seem to be doing well.
