I'm mean a future that has a blight resistant tomato is surely worth a tenner? http://www.buzzbnk.org/sarvari
It's a programme breeding blight-resistent potatoes, not tomatoes.
Anywho, there's nothing inventive in crowd-sourcing the funding for research - looks like a typical piece of chugging to be honest - but what would be really interesting is if allotmenteers across the country were encouraged to grow a bed of potatoes from true see and evaluate what came up for blight resistence, taste, and yield - that really would be crowd-sourced research at its best.
