Sorry to be a boring f**t but I think that we advised not to go wading in the water like that incase manhole covers are lifted or other hazards we cannot see.
I suppose living on an island helps us as it just runs straight into the sea, although Cowes does flood when the tide is in, We have had a lot of rain lately but no worse than a northern summers day. It is a bit wet for gardening though.

We were in the middle of a bloody great field, no man holes there whatsoever, or any other type of drainage system for that matter. I know the place exceptionally well so I knew exactly where I was and what I was walking on. My son lives there on the boat so it was pretty essential we braved it to check the boat, it's mooring and it's ropes out.
Apart from that, it was fun.

How is the caravan BTW, you show the boat but hope caravan is ok?
Caravan is in winter storage in a big compound well above water level. The pitch we normally have it on in summer isn't though.

Unless you are a BBC news reporter, then I think it is obligatory to stand in a puddle while you report on the weather.
Things are rather soggy around here. Water is currently flowing out of the River Thames rather than in. There is are huge lakes all along the river. Water not as high as 2007 when town was totally cut off in all directions.
All the local rivers are very high. Oxford is starting to suffer and it will start being more of a problem lower down soon as all the water drains down all the rivers. Rolf Harris: it is on its way.
Went to Worcester on Sunday and the country cricket ground was more of a duck pond. Seemed to be a lot of cars parked near the river. Saw one guy park his car with the wheels almost in the water and walk away. Plenty of spaces further up, so he must have been doing it on purpose.
I have seen pics of all the damage in the UK - you guys have had a rough couple of seasons!! Thinking of you all and hoping that your area is OK. Here it is just cold and windy - doesn't inspire you to garden either, but I do need to get my garlic in pretty soon, so I'll have to bite the bullet.
