Its bright here, with the sun burning through high cloud.
You wouldn't know we're just on the dry side of River Elwy's devastating floods of the last couple of days.
St Asaph, the tiny City at the heart of the flooding, has, or had, their allotments right down next to the river.
I doubt there will be even a sign of them when the floods recede.
Thoughts are with them today.
They were shocking pictures on the news, so many affected. Yes thoughts are with all those affected in St Asaph and around the country.
Glad you were on the dry side Nigel.
Forgot to add, first real frosty morning this autumn, ice on the chickens water. But beautifully sunny for most of the day, clouded over about half an hour ago.
Proper Monkeys this morning with a lovely bit of Sunshine this afternoon. :sunny:
Lovin' this weather, I can cope with the cold if it's bright :toothy10:
Cold and clear. I'm having a lovely week sitting at home waiting for workmen.

It was an unseasonable 18.8 C here in Delaware yesterday though we've had some below freezing weather last month.
I'm thinking of doing some outdoor painting which is ridiculous just before Christmas.
And the bugs are having a resurgence just when they should be dying off.
Probably the tulips will be jumping out next. This is not good.
Just been to lottie for some veg and sun just setting very pretty pink sky. But it was freeeeezing.

Blimey Kev, thats getting a bit close for comfort. I had to switch on the heated windscreen this morning to clear the frost. Missus had to scrape hers off, she looked a bit cold and she ain't the lady she pretends to be, judging from her language.
Heavy frost looks like snow. Cloudy
Yep...very crunchy frost and blimey it feels cold...brrrrr...
"...sorry chickens...no chatting this morning from me..just quick visit bringing some hot water and food and back inside on front of fire...brrrr..(I do feel sorry for you lot being outside all day)"

Hard frost which hung about all day. I managed to get a bit of digging done before I got too cold, but another night or two of this and my soil will set like concrete. I won't be able to get a fork into it.
Very hard frost ...every were is white over in Notts tonight
Frosty this morning and brass monkeys at work, the old thermal long johns were on this morning for the first time, foggy and freezing at the moment. :coffee2:

Foggy at the mo, off to work soon. :coffee2:
-5.7 C at waking up - -6.2 C at the moment, still getting colder!!!
and I bet there are others who live where it is much colder than here. Seems a long time ago that we had winters when we had to scrape the car just two or three times!
Did anybody see Channel 4's programme on weather and climate yesterday?
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/is-our-weather-getting-worse/4od
Well worth watching.
S**T its cold!...that was my not so lady like reaction when I went outdoors this morning to let girls out. I soon turned around to change my clothes to something MUCH MORE warmer than pyjamas and dressing gown.
Everything is white over and beautiful. I can't ever remember feeling the cold as bad in Finland as I do in here and its not even close to those temperature they get over there :dontknow:
This same weather from Siberia caused record of this year already over there...in Lapland there was -32,4 last night...now that is bit nippy!
Yes, I saw some of the program....and the slugs :angry4:
Forcast: Mostly cloudy, a high of 2c and a low of -4c
just had a thought, its only a few days to the shortest day 21 Dec i think, longer days then on the way ROLL ON SUMMER :coffee2:
Jack Frost has been very busy. The Hoar frost this morning very pretty on the trees. But still there at lunch time means it is still freezing. Looks like warmer wetter weather is on the way friday. Driving yesterday evening was awful, freezing fog.
Partly cloudy, dry, a high of only 1c low of 1c, but getting a bit warmer later in the week 7c or 8c if you can call that warm. Time for a :coffee2:
Frosty start, cold day at about 1c all day. :coffee2:

Yep, the researcher was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too fond of them. Mind you - I have never seen a yellow one like he had sliming up his hand - YUK!
Just as cold this morning and hasn't got above freezing yet either. From tomorrow apparently it's warm and rainy. Here comes the next flood! The fields around here are still partly waterlogged and now iced over, the bottom of the garden is barely drier than the surrounding fields, but at least the standing water went away just before the big freeze.
Still have not been able to plant garlic and shallots. They are in seed trays in the greenhouse. S'pose it will have to do ..................... until we get slightly drier conditions.
Frosty start here too, mostly sunny but feels ohhh so cold.
-1 but warmed up to 0 for a while. Back to -1 at the mo.
Another freezing day with hoar frost still adorning the trees all day.
Pouring down with rain at this moment and rain is forecast off and on for the next week or so with temps of 7c to 8c and lows of 4c so a bit better temp wise. :coffee2:
Milder day with the rain coming down at 10.15 and was relentless all afternoon. :coffee2:
Walked to tennis this morning at 9.30 am to play outdoors in a set four, with one lady over 80, and two other elderly gentleman (these retired people are mad) and she does like to play every day, if possible. In a really bad mood as could have stayed in bed and read my book, with tea and cat, then it started raining at 10 am when we were due to start playing, so had a cup of coffee at Club and got a lift home. Got wet walking to lovely Morrisons, and now going to have my lamb stew, and finish my jigsaw. 2morrow is meant to be sunny, so may be able to go to the lovely allotment and walk in the puddles. Roll on summer, cheap seeds at the ready.
Overcast, dry. but very cold
:coffee2:
A lot of heavy rain again today, a wide stream running across the garden again - oh joy.
Fine drizzle at the moment had to go to the doctors for blood test,so got wet through in the process
8c is the max today so its lost that icy feel, but bl**dy wet
so lets get on the hot :coffee2:
A dry sunny day at last :blob7:

Does anyone remember a poem which begins The weather man has gone to sleep, and left the tap turned on. I can't get it out of my head, and I can't remember the rest of it.
Can't say I ever notice much difference before February.
Nice to see the sun today after all the rain. My rain gauge has recorded 56mm fallen since tuesday night. Live on a hill so no flooding problems for us but feel sorry for those badly affected by it.
Cloudy here in Wales, with a few showers forecast for this afternoon :icon_rendeer:
Dry Sunny day. :sunny:
Yesterday was a sunny start to the day but quickly clouded over to a grey damp ol' day.
Rained pretty much through the night and still raining this morning, ground is very wet indeed, pools, puddles and mini streams all around. Hope it is ok for others.
The same here in the south west Jayb. My pond is flanked with flooding paving - it's only the stones round the rim that are holding the fish in and the water on the paving out! :sad1: :home:. A bit like a canal lock at present! I guess I'm lucky though that unless the street drains block my house should be safe. I feel for those poor people who are flooded in so many places in the south west.

greeey and dark day..and it raaaaining again... :BangHead:
Same here, garden resembles a swamp with some standing water, fields around us with lots of standing water. Some of that has been there for over a month now, but at least the house is not flooded. I feel for those poor people who are having to deal with this and for whom Christmas is pretty much cancelled this year.
It has just stopped raining here - I am in South Dorset. There is evidently more rain forecast. I hate to thing what my lottie is like - it is on the banks of the River Stour but a bit too high to get flooded - I hope!!
Partly cloudy, dry and windy a high of 9c sunset time 15:55pm 2 days ago it was 15:53 so its on the move a sign of better things to come :coffee2:  jim
Cloudy but thankfully no rain yet today.

I am so sick of this miserable weather- rain, wind, rain, wind, barely been out of the house in the week I've had off work. It's supposed to brighten up tomorrow then it's back to work on Wednesday! :BangHead:
The Sun has got his hat on hip hip hip hooray. :sunny: :blob7: :icon_cheers: :sunny:

Fine for most of the day. Then rain. Tut.
Raining !!
Yesterday was beautiful, lots of sunshine, what a treat!
Today, grey and damp. Drizzle has stopped but the fog has come down.
3 days dry, no rain, but only a bit of sun, quite warm as well. It had better rain soon or there will be a hosepipe ban.
Grey, damp, mist and drizzle- almost like summer!

Yep, here too but I think at the moment no drizzle. The standing water is still standing and I am beginning to wonder how the fruit trees are surviving the marshland conditions. There is nowhere to drain to, surrounding fields are if anything worse affected than the garden and neighbouring gardens are just as bad.
Mild forecast for next 3 days around 11 to 12c and cloudy
its damp looking at the moment, but dry, slight wind temp is 12c
light up time [ London ] 16..05

Back to the rain - dark and gloomy after yesterday's brief spell of sunshine :disgust:
Tricia
They forecasted snow for to day that never came, rain now forecasted for pm with a high of 3c and low of 1c. so its the same old story RAIN and cold, light up time as now crept up to 16:20 pm London time. Spring is on the way :coffee2:
Rotherham - South Yorkshire
-3 over night and an inch covering of snow.
Blowing a blizzard as i type, with up to 10cm forecast - not happy! Had to finish work early :BangHead:
A small snow shower in the morning and another in the afternoon, didn't settle on the roads or pavements though, result. :coffee2:
Really lovely and sunny in South Dorset - quuite warm in the sun but chilly in the shade. Definitely not beach weather though
Yesterday, quite cold and fairly grey all day, light rain and drizzle.
Today, very slight frost overnight. So far today a mixture of cloud and sunshine, feels cold but lovely when the sun does come through (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/cool.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
Hard frost last night, which stayed all day in the shade.
Cold and frosty day here in Dorset. Cloudy though. At least the sun is shining a bit when the cloud lets it.
Attractive yet slightly worrying red sunrise this morning. The saying Red Sky in the morning Shepherds Warning sprang to mind, meaning bad weather on the way. Great.
Bracing ourselves for what might be to come on Friday.
PS Anyone here from Norfolk? That snowstorm you had yesterday sounded quite shocking. Hope all OK now.
-7.8C last night. still snow on the ground. Walked to town, pavements icy, but a bit better on way back when it got warmer. Pretty grim, more of the same temperature tonight. Last night I left the roof hatch open, because with our (now) up to date thick insulation the water tank and pipework are at risk of freezing. Now freezing dense fog. Must put more birdfood out.
Icy. I've been helping with the foodbank so no allotment today.
No frost again, but wet, cold and miserable. Yesterday was nicer with some sunshine.
Sat here freezing the heating has gone down, and snow is forecast for later to day with a temp of 1c and a low of -1 with more snow to come on Friday and sat  :coffee2:

Keep warm Jim any way you can, it is soooo cold. Hope the heating engineer can sort you fast. Do you have electric fires?
Freezing here - again very hard frost last night and won't get above zero during today either. Again solid freezing fog. We had a nice pink sunrise, which looked beautiful against the trees that have frost and snow on them, but minutes later that dreadful freezing fog took over again and has stayed. Ah well, guess better now than in April or May .....................
Stay safe tomorrow everybody, the weather forecast sounds bad.
Bracing ourselves for the snow to come. Been grey dull and cold today with a few spots of rain just now. Max temp 5c. All indications are we are in for the long haul now. Cold set to stay after the snow so no thaw just yet.
Well...the snow fall has just started here...it is still gentle snowing but looks like its going to come more than just 'bucket full'.
I've prepared for tommorrow..shopped today and did all the errands that needed doing....log baskets are full, coal bucket is full...now all I need to do is just 'sit tight', keep knitting and occasionally nip outdoors to see to chickens.
Keep warm!
Went to the lottie this morning but the lock was frozen and I couldn't get in.
Wanted to see if the rhubabrb that I've got covered in a large cardboard box has survived/ready to pick.
Sub-zero here in Lincolnshire. Have been going out a couple of times per day to replace the chickens' frozen water. Don't think I'd fancy sleeping in a wooden box tonight...
Ray spread salt on the slope up to the plot so's I didn't fall on my a*se :toothy10:
Put some compost in a deep pot with a demi john cloche over it to warm it up. I've got a free trial pack of carrots from DT Brown and they say start sowing in January so, as they said it, I'm going to sow a few seeds :sunny:
-5 by our shed this morning
They are predicting a foot of snow for this area tomorrow. That should be fun..NOT.lol
the temperature stayed around freezing all day. Light snow this afternoon, with a quarter of an inch or so on the road outside.
Started snowing about an hour ago, light but it looks like there is a lot up there :happy7:
My date palm is hanging a bit low with the snow on it. The bamboo is also bent double. It will be gone this afternoon as it is getting a bit of rain on it now. only an inch anyway but it has brought the island to a stop. I might have to turn the heat up and waste some of my gin winter heat allowance. I should be saving it to run the air conditioning in the summer. I bet the postman won't be wearing his shorts today.
Hasn't stopped snowing here and I've ran out of bread and got no bread flour so making a run to the nearest shop, then back to hibernate, they say another 6" of snow overnight :coffee2:
Yesterday's little flurry was only a 'trial' fall...just little 'dusting' on the ground. Sky is VERY gray and dark...no snow YET. Otherwise is cold..BRR...I'm just about to take some more warm water for the girls. This morning they were all enjoying loooong gulps of it...must feel nice when you are out in the cold all the time.
2 eggs ! :icon_cheers:...spring must be on its way.. :sunny:
Very white here and still coming down. They have managed to fix our electric, just been put back on thankfully. Hope it won't be too long for those that are still waiting.

We are coming to Torbay for a few days in April - can you arrange for a heatwave?
They got it wrong, we only had about 6 inches. :icon_thumleft: Supposed to freeze overnight.
Snowing all day; up to six inches or so in places. It creaks underfoot, and the snowflakes are very small, so it's at least a couple of degrees below freezing.
We have maybe 1/3 an inch been snowing lightly since about midday we were supposed to get a lot more so hoping i get it tomorrow :)

Here the old snow never melted and we got twice as much on top yesterday. Over a foot in places, some drifting. Cleared out drive 3 times and MIL's drive twice and still got another 2 inches or so overnight. Road is black with snow in the centre, guess in town it will be gone from the roads. Must get that snow shovel working again as we want to go out later.
No more overnight, showing -5 by our shed and supposed to be 2 tops

Pouring down here, which is not good news. The ground is already sodden, snow is rapidly melting + rain :BangHead:
After a slight frost overnight, we've had a lovely sunny morning. Now it's clouded over and the breeze is getting up, shaking the snow off the trees.
Forecast to go down to -6C on Thursday night then up to +6 on Saturday... better get the suncream out!!
Has been raining quite hard here since late morning. Hope we don't get a frost tonight
Snowing this morning, all white again.
No white stuff but it is hissing down, with no let up. I am twiddling my thumbs instead of building a decking and small pontoon on a clients lake, cause I can't see where the waters edge is supposed to be. I also have to lift the turf to relay later but it is one big sponge at the moment. It's going to be a month before I can get on the job with an Easter deadline. Can't be much more wetstuff left up there surely.
Looking a bit grey here in Peston Lancs , no rain or snow or sun, getting pi**ed off now with winter, and looking forward to the warm weather-sat on the plot
Grey all day again, then it started snowing. Temperatures never made it above freezing. Guess it's called winter.

Cool but sunny, washing out on the line doing nicely. Cleared up the garden of dead growth, grass in the orchard needs cutting but too wet underfoot. Loads of green tips showing on the perrenials and bulbs, soon be spring. Looks like Wigan is having a Scottish summer.
Hi All,
Weird 24 hours 1am last night it was heavy snow and over an inch fell and by 1pm we were well into the thaw. By 6pm there was very little lying snow on the ground and now we have heavy rain and its not that cold out.
Does that mean monday i can get out into the garden????? :blob7: :toothy10:
Cam
Sun shine, dry and 7c not a bad day :coffee2:

Then the Sun came out and was a pleasant afternoon :sunny:

Fine by me as I can't get out and garden for another 2 weeks at least and then won't be able to do much. I shall be stir crazy by then I expect.
I do hope we don't get any more seriously damaging weather, especially once it does start warming up properly. Last year a heavy late spring frost wiped out such a lot of plants. Depressing.

Cold here in not so sunny Enfield. Heating full on, and cat gone to bed. Out all day yesterday walking around Watton-at-Stone with a walking group, in the sleet. Train back was cancelled so spent an hour in the pub (without a drink) sitting near a lovely log fire. 26 in the group, all but one with freedom passes, so these old people (me included) do like to get out. Good for them, notice no young people on the walk.

I'm going to knit some gloves, was going to the lovely allotment, but the weather is rubbish, cat is sensible has slept on the bed all day (and he is not allowed on the bed), but OH is out and will only start moaning about cat's hair 2night. :drunken_smilie: :drunken_smilie: Anyone fancy a curry 2night, think I may treat myself with a takeaway. Tomorrow may be better, or worse, according to the weather forecast. Even my seeds in the kitchen are not doing too good.

Just started snowing here. Unbelievable!. This time last year I was sunbathing on the beach in Bournemouth.
Horizontal snow/sleet in Lincolnshire. Building myself up to feeding the chickens. "I'm going outside, I may be some time..."
Light snow falling here, not settled on the roads and pavements yet, out tonight for a family Chinese so hope it doesn't get any worse. But looking around the country it doesn't look half as bad here, I think the worlds coming to an end. :coffee2:
Snowed all day yesterday, all night, and still snowing now. Its about 8-10 inch deep and even our main roads are unpassable. Watching 3 blokes trying to get a van past with shovels as i type!
Need to get down allotment to feed bunnies but its a mile and half away?!! :BangHead: :BangHead:
Strangely I have that REM track going round in my mind ...."its the end of the world as we know it..its the end of.......".........

Still snowing in Birmingham.
Drove from Tadcaster to Lancaster and back on the motorway and saw very little snow- it's obviously been very localised today, although to listen to the radio you'd think the whole country was in 6ft of snow! Very windy, though, and icy cold in Lancaster.
No snow in South Dorset
No snow in South Dorset
Your turn next time Merv... :toothy10:
We have had plenty of rain though!!
Woke up to 3ft of snow in the drive!

Not even moved my wellies or spade over yet !
Icicles are beautiful though, but have so much to get on with cant have it all covered in snow!
Brr

 :coffee2: cheers jim
A frosty start, warming a touch but not a lot, cold and windy, dry cloudy afternoon. :coffee2:
It's been great working out on the allotment the past 2 days. Sunny enough for my solar radio - and the soil's drying out really quickly with this wind.
But it's still f-f-freezing. I've come home today with real "farmer" cheeks and my hands look like a man 50 years older (if that's possible!)
Still getting loads done - can't complain.
Went to the allotment yester day and dug a bed for shallots and onion sets [ plant next week ] looks like another nice day today a temp of 7 to 8c with a slight wind blowing from the east. as they say in Lancashire " as grand as owt "
:glasses9:  :coffee2:
Grey and cold (again) here in Dorchester. Been trying to snow for the last hour. Nothing settling, just blowing around.
A cold frosty start but seemed to get colder as the morning went on, with a few snow blizzards in the afternoon, you sure it's April, so much for the global warming. :coffee2:
Here in East Sussex, yesterday was reported as the coldest early April day in these parts "since records began". I have lots of broad bean seedlings in loo rolls to fill up winter gaps, and several gutters full of pea seedlings ready to go out, but it is too cold for me, let alone for them.
Started off a wave of climbing beans today in the hope of weather warming up enough to put them out under fleece when they are up....
Not as nice as yesterday , but a touch warmer at 8c
been raining early on
 :coffee2:
Better day here in Dorset. Nice and sunny, if still chilly. Much less wind helps . Temperatures recovering a bit. If its like this tomorrow might get a few hours in the garden. Indoors this PM for G National.

10c to day sunny and bright getting warmer each day :glasses9: with a light east wind.
 :coffee2:
Washing out and drying, more seeds planted. Heating off which is good. Sunny Enfield, north London today.
The weather channel on my windows phone says
a high of 18c on Sunday the 14th and a low of 9c ?
we will have to see ! :coffee2:
Still a bitter easterly wind, but warm in the wee bits of sunshine that poked through. The soil is bone dry to about 2". No rain (or snow) in ages.
A real proper April day yesterday with sunshine and showers. Wind has changed and is now quite pleasant. Even took off my jacket for a few minutes yesterday. Lovely sunny evening down at the lottie.
The Robin has started singing.
Showers later on in the day, :sunny: at the moment 6c max 10c
The sat forecast of 18c now says 13c ?
 :coffee2: Jim

Looks like another nice day in store with :sunny: and a temp of 14c at 11:00am, but still got that wind blowing
 :coffee2:
Down to my T shirt at work today. :sunny:
Windy and dull, looks like rain later, hope it keeps off till I get to the chippy for cod and chips and mushy peas for my dinner.
:icon_cheers:
Today its cold and windy but everywhere things are shooting up and trying to flower, nice drop of rain this morning has given everything a bit of a water :)
I am on a mission today making home made pizza for dinner tonight and a nice cottage pie for tomorrow so fingers crossed i can get some gardening done tomorrow.
Have mother in law down and we have been having a look at getting her council band checked and generally doing a bit of sorting out.
Nice when the Sun was out and the wind dropped. :sunny:
HOWLING wind here... has been like this for the last week...getting sick and tired of it now... :BangHead:

HOWLING wind here... has been like this for the last week...getting sick and tired of it now... :BangHead:
Its bad enough down here in the Vale of Clwyd mate, and we have trees and things to slow it down somewhat. :tongue3: It must be blowing your hair off up there tonight.
Nigel..I have never know such sustained WIND...it is now a week since it started and apart from a lull or two when the gusts changed direction a bit (and we became a little more sheltered) the force has just been mental...What has been weird is that normally with a gale you get wind then rain, then it blows through clears up and bobs your relative...but until this morning when the rain set in there has been NO MORE than a speckle 2minute shower....just constant ROARING wind.
one of the neighbours 60 yds or so up the lane has an extremely tall Scots pine in his garden and we know when the wind is gale force by the bits of it that rain down on us here...a three foot branch from the top sailed over yesterday at about 60ft high to land in the field behind the next door neighbour on the other side of us...
Had enough now..resetting the stones/bricks etc on my cloches every hour or so.. :BangHead:(theyre big cloches at 25ftish long 6ft wide and 2ft6 high..it is a nightmare...fingers crossed the wind seems to have dropped a tad today but it is tipping down now...it will be floods next then...yes we are between two rivers and built on a flood plain...might try rice growing if this goes on, alwaays look on the bright side of life de do de dedodedodo-do :sunny:
Gail force winds blowing all night, eased off A bit now but still strong, its 11c but feels more like 4c even with :sunny:
are we in for a ***p summer
 :coffee2:
Really windy today, with Sunny spells, a 20 min downpour, now the Sun is out again with no drop in the wind. :sunny:
Dear me! I had to go to the local glazers today to buy replacement glass for my greenhouse after last nights crazy winds. Two panes knocked out by flying debris and the guttering on the house has been completely ripped off.
sunny and warm 14c as now down to allotment to get spuds in.
 :coffee2:
Roasty toasty here..
Its been really loooooooooooooooovely today..slightly cool wind, but still nice :sunny:
Sunny day yesterday but a lot cooler in the shade, Sunny here at the mo, will stick a few kestrels in today. :sunny: :glasses9:

:coffee2: :toothy10:
Slight frost to day here in cornwall that's caught me out ,last frost date was a month ago . I
had to go out and check it was indeed frost and it was :BangHead:
The local radio station just gave the weather fore cast giving the weather as rain in most parts of the country and the temperature will be is 10 D but should miss the southwest i think she should have looked out of the window before stating that as its p..ing down and freezing
Sunny all day, stuck a line of Kestrels in, sowed a few parsnips and Spurs won, what a day. :icon_cheers: :blob7: :glasses9: :sunny:
10c with light rain, cloudy sun trying to peep out from behind the clouds :sunny:
 :coffee2:
A dullish day with a bit of Sun and the wind picking up again. :tongue3:

Overcast, a bit drizzly at times, but OK.
Looked really nice till you opened the door then it was cold and windy. Rained for about 5 min and now its freezing :(
Nasty, dark, cold wind, very depressing compared to yesterday's lovely warm sunshine. East Sussex.
Rain this morning, now cleared up, :sunny: trying to get out
but not warm at only 8c for this time of year.
and we still have that wind :BangHead:
 :coffee2: Jim
:
A few showers at night, but another Sunny day today. :sunny: :glasses9: :sunny:
Bits of cloud and light rain but not much :happy7:
Had some rain during the night, first rain for weeks. That should get the weeds excited. The surface soil was beginning to be like a dust desert.
Its raining at the mo, lets hope it livens up a bit later. :coffee2:
All the makings of a nice day :sunny: shine, light wind for a change, temp not to high only 9c " could be better " but not to grumble at least its dry !

Sun came out and was hot for a while
Clouded over with some cold winds picking up
Sunny spells at the minute

A few touches of frost down at the lottie even though my car and Brize Norton thought it was 4C. Very patchy. Luckily everything delicate was covered. Melting fast in the sunshine.
:sunny: 11c. rain pm
 :coffee2:
Only a few miles down the road from Digeroo, but freezing winds dispite the sun playing hide and seek with the clouds. Frost on the ground 1st thing.
Not got going on my plot so far this year.
Mostly sunny here today.this mornings wind was COLD though...no frost here...Polytunnel didn't go below 5f...
:happy7:
Sun, hail, rain, wind, COLD!
Rain came later than expected, so, in middle England two triple rows of peas went in.
Tonight -3 expected, not too worried as this could be the end ????
Raining at the moment, wind not as bad but its only 7c :BangHead:
Its May next week so things should get better ?

Sunny spells yesterday, with a few hailstones, windy and showers later on.
Today a Sunny morning, clouded over now but a lot cooler in the last few days. :drunken_smilie:
:sunny:7am sunshine by 8am replaced by a cold cutting wind and clouds. I'm so fed up of the last couple of years I may call it a day if things don't improve this year. :BangHead: :BangHead:
Not too bad for spring. Plenty of sun but a bitter westerly wind. A few short and heavy showers but we're needing rain here.
Well the promised day of :sunny: here failed to materialise..it is overcast and hopefully the promised (as per ancellsfarmers weather reports) -5 won't happen tonight...
as an aside I went to home and bargain today... they are selling 1.5 metre by 5 metre fleece for 99p....bargain! :toothy10:
Cloudy sky, windy, dry 14c forecast for to day.
 :coffee2:.
Sunny spells all day. :sunny:
:sunny: dry, 12c. :glasses9:

Sunny spells all day again. :sunny:
Brilliant day but chilly this morning when the sun went in. The wind has droped, thank goodness :blob7:
Looks like being a nice day, :sunny: 0% chance of rain

garden over looking the river Ribble for dinner and one or two drinks.
cheers jim
 :coffee2:
:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
The sun had his hat on, and I wore my sun hat for the first time this year.
Lovely afternoon at Hidcote. Expected tulips but was full of primroses.
Well its hot hot hot managed to get out into the garden and was cheered right up by 2 trays of corn popping up, bramley apple tree in bloom and all my onions and shallots have popped there head above the ground. True the slugs have had a good go at my cabbages but not feeling that bad about things. Greenhouse mostly built so am hoping for a great weekend.
:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Gorgeous, hope it is the same for everyone.
Feeling hot, hot, hot. :sunny: :glasses9: :blob7: :sunny: :glasses9: :blob7: :icon_cheers:

Got sunburn on my teeny weeny minature tiny little bald spot on the top of my head. I will have to start combing it with a flannel.
I'ts going to be a mostly cloudy and dry day with temps a minimum of 14c.
:icon_cheers: :glasses9:
Phew! my outdoor thermometers showing 22 and it's early yet. Just got rid of the big boys trousers and got the shorts and lightweight undercrackers back on until next november.
It's got even hotter now, so scrub the last comment, I have had to go commando.
Showers forecasted for later on. no :sunny: as yet, top temp 13c but feels like 4c and still got that bi***y wind !!
 :coffee2:
Yesterday was Sunny :sunny: all day 20c
Today started a bit cold, dull with a few spots of rain
But it's started to warm with the Sun :sunny: coming out
The shorts will be on for the football today. :glasses9:
Bit dull, bit sunny, few sharp showers, bit of wind. Jumper mostly, but changed to T-shirt an hour ago.
Actually brilliant for bank holiday weekend in the garden :toothy10:
here in mid wales it is blowing a gale and spitting
Here in Preston Lancashire its 16c, wind 10 mph, not a lot of :sunny: but dry.
:coffee2: :coffee2:
Sunny spells on the plot all day 18c. :glasses9: :sunny:

Fantastic- sunny and warm! Just need some overrnight rain now, but not much sign of that!
Another warm Sunny day, a bit cloudier but nice all the same. :sunny:
temp a bit lower at 16c, but still a nice day.
A few showers in the morning but brightened up later with the Sun coming out, but cooler today. :sunny:

Heavy rain here- about time! Just hope the wind doesn't dry everything out again too quickly!
it's grey looking, no :sunny: and light rain and still windy. in other words a c**p day :BangHead:
 :coffee2:
Not too bad yesterday, mostly grey with showers and a bit breezy. The day before was horrid, very wet and windy and felt cold.
A cloudy start here today.
Rainy start. sun starting to peep out at the moment. 9c so not to warm still got that wind blowing, it just wont go away.
 :coffee2:
Cold, breezy and showery- if it's going to rain, why can't it rain properly and give the ground a good soaking? :BangHead:
We have got the rain today in not so sunny Enfield, north London. Heating on, getting dark, better get the knitting out, again, again.
I think someone as their finger on the change button. Rain, then sunshine for a while then back to rain. Along with a brisk wind. At least there's no snow or frost :blob7:
it says 12c but feels a lot colder with cloudy skys no :sunny: at all and still windy and showers forecast for later on. over all its a rubbish spring day :BangHead:
from a p****d off JIM  :coffee2:
Grey, dull and windy at the moment. :coffee2:
The sun is out, but for how long ? showers forecast for later on :BangHead:
 :coffee2:
Been a brilliant day today. Away from the wind, it's been sunny and warm-ish, even got sunburned and got loads planted and sown :toothy10:
Wet and warm, brilliant for laying the new lawn.
Warm sun, freezing wind! I really wanted to get some more stuff planted out before I go away at the weekend, but not sure it's going to happen!
Not too bad, sunshine and showers. Badly needed rain. Got my May sowings done in between the rain and was even able to rake the solid lumps of clay loam. Just at the perfect wetness on the soil, comfy enough to work in a T-shirt and open jacket.
Then I went out at 7-ish to get some salad stuff and the rain felt like it had been put into a freezer before it fell.
early morning rain, sun came out later, still windy and cold with it, 7c at the moment Brrrrrrrr
 :coffee2:
Started off OK but a few scattered showers about 11, then steady rain since 2.30. :coffee2:
Gales and heavy, squally rain. Cold. Feels like January.
Rain, cold and more like Winter.Still feels like I should be in bed.....maybe hibernating like the bears!
Here in Preston its windy and raining, and its the middle of May :coffee2:
A warmer Sunnier afternoon. :sunny:
Some very sharp rain and hail showers. Glad I didn't plant out my cougettes etc this morning!
Lots of rain and wind the last few days, coooold.
Today looks so different, very slight frost on the grass and sunny so far, such a lovely start to the day. 4.4 temp in the poly-tunnel.
:sunny: showers 13c light wind
 :coffee2:
A very dull, cold and dreary day but at least the rain held off, I think it's holding back for the weekend. :coffee2:
Looks more like October than May! dark and RAINING again and its only 9c  :coffee2:
Another beautiful day, sun is shining, very light breeze and feels lovely and warm in the sunshine. Better still this is the third day on the trot :sunny:
Beats last year attempt!
sunny and warm, 18c is the foecast, and 20c on Monday
 :coffee2:
Dull and dreary all day, 18c but felt more like 12c. :coffee2:
Cloudy this morning, hazy sunshine this afternoon.
20c to day, but feels more like 10c, at least is was warm in the pound shop and primark !!
 :coffee2:
sunshine. light rain later on.
 :coffee2:
The last two days have been cloudy, dull and dreary with a bit of evening Sunshine. :sunny:
A mainly bright start to the day although a light shower just hit. It would be quite a nice day but the wind is fairly strong and feels horribly cold.
Lovely evening yesterday. Looked lovely this morning. 6am wall to wall blue sky. But wind was very cold. At least it was above freezing so potatoes are ok.
Forecast 7 actual 5, out on lottie probably only 2 or3.
Next two nights have a cold forecast too.
Cloudy, blue skies, windy, showers, sunshine, hailstones, more sunshine and showers to finish the day so far. :BangHead:
Beautiful to look at, freezing to be in. The evil wind has picked up again. Still can't complain too much if the sun is shining. :sunny:
Had really heavy hailstones yesterday, haven't been down to lottie yet to see of we sustained any damage
Another cold windy day making a temp of 12c feel like 5c ! with a 10% risk of rain, its the same old story day in day out, after all its nearly June so not much of summer left, if any.
 :coffee2:
It is raaaiiinning :icon_cheers:
I'm only excited about it because I emptied some water butts into GH borders..did have to get them properly wet.
Now I can get the butts filled up again :icon_cheers:
But its cold too...have to get he fire going...
Bit of rain here, but not enough to get the water butts going. Might get the weeds excited. Very windy. Forecast says 10 mph with gust up to 30 mph I think it is all gusts and nothing in between.
Only about 9c here feels very chilly. Feels like 3. Brrrr :toothy2:
Flippin' windy here Brrr
Cold and wet all day today, roll on the Sunny times. :sunny:
Sun has got his hat on :icon_cheers: :sunny: :sunny:
Happy bunny this morning :toothy10:
Hope it is your way too
The currant bun is out in it's full glory this morning. :sunny: :blob7: :glasses9:

Blimey!
Had a grass frost here but no scraping involved!
Yummy sunshine, very light breeze :sunny:
A lot of cloud around, dark and dull looks more like rain than :sunny.
:BangHead: :coffee2: :coffee2:
Its started to rain!!, not heavy steady drizzle :BangHead: :BangHead:
Sunny and hot again here today- making the most of it, think we'll be getting tomorrow what the west has today!
plus the north of England !!
Cloudy first thing, continuous rain since 11.30. Yucky day.
Sunny for most of the day with a bit of cloud cover. :sunny:
Raining again!, could be in for the day, I hope not? rain is forecast every day this week and need to go into town to do the shopping one last cup of :coffee2: before I set off.
Some sunshine peeping through the clouds this morning, overall not bad. Rain due to arrive this afternoon.
Mostly sunny, some cloud, windy.
cloudy light wind 17c don't think I will need the :glasses9: to day
 :coffee2: :coffee2:
We went from 44F last week to 88F predicted for today. The slugs are rampaging.
Beautiful day sun shining feels quiet warm at only 13c, light wind, no rain forecast to day.
 :coffee2:
The sun is shining in beatiful sunny Enfield, north London. Got loads of plants outside today, and all the washing dry. :sunny: Just off to the allotment for a quick visit before dinner. Should be a good weekend, sandwiches and coffee flask for 2 morrow and a good day at the allotment weeding. Summer is here, had to find a sleeveless T shirt is was so hot. Love it.
Another cold start to hopefully a nice day. Heavy dew on the grass, probably about 3C. I wish I had fleeced my strawberries.
Yesterday was lovely if you could get out of the north wind. I had breakfast outside huddled in a forsythia bush, though later we got to 18C. Courgettes and me are loving the sunshine.
June is here and with it the warmer weather, its 19c at the moment and could get hotter as the day rolls on.
Summer at last !!
:glasses9: :glasses9: :glasses9:
I've been away to Hartlepool for four days but back to the warmth with a lovely Sunny day. :sunny:
Lurrrverly here today- shame I was at work but it's still sunny this evening.
It's been gorgeous here too :sunny: :glasses9:
June is busting out all over, 22c wall to wall :sunny: :glasses9:
The Sun has got he's hat on, 19oc, seems a lot hotter than that, I was working in my T-Shirt by 8 o clock this morning. :sunny: :glasses9:
yes - super weather yesterday, perfect for a long cycle ride although a tad windy.
Today it's grim, but apparently better elsewhere. Here we have very solid cloud cover and a steady drizzle with 9.7C. Hope it brightens up later
18c glad its warm, got to go into town for an eye test
 :coffee2:
Took a while for the Sun :sunny: to break through but another spiffing afternoon. :glasses9:
What a fantastic day! very warm, its 22c at the moment, to hot to work on the allotment, so s*d it, there is all ways to morrow or the day after.

Another cracker 22c, reading 30c in the Sun at the moment in the back garden. :glasses9: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Morning was cold an cloudy again then lovely day, too hot for me to work. Just going down to lottie now for hopefully another cracking evening.
Shower forecast tomorrow, I will believe that when I see it. Looks like nice weather until the middle of next week. Still cold at night. :icon_cheers:
Could have done with this weather in may, never mind its here now, so lets make the most of it :glasses9: once more its 20c :sunny: with a slight wind
:glasses9: :coffee2:
Thunderstorms all night, so everything nice and watered. Sunny again now supposed to be 18 on the weather news but my garden thermometer says 24. Soon be summer.
A warm Sunny morning with cloud cover in the afternoon, but with the wind picking up a bit, still a pleasant day though. :sunny:
Wall to wall :sunny: blue sky, with a slight wind, very pleasant at 19c. :glasses9: :glasses9:
 :coffee2:
sun shine again 19c wind N/e 5 mph.
:glasses9: :sunny: :blob7:
19c, wind s/east 5 mph, mainly :sunny:. :glasses9:
so time to make the flask and ham buttys for lunch
and off to the allotment for the rest of the day
to soak up the sun, and to chat to friends
and perhaps a can or two.
:glasses9:  :coffee2:
A warmish cloudy three days with the Sun popping out now and then. :glasses9:
Cloudy most of the day with a little blue in the evening. Managed to get loads done, sowed loads of carrot seeds. Hoping for rain tomorrow.
Looks like it might arrive during the night.
Well there was a bank of rain heading our way on Rain Today when I went to bed. Well it rather fizzled out and the road is wet but under the trees it is still dry as a bone.
Sowed carrots yesterday to benefit from todays rain all day and now I will have to get the hose pipe out. :BangHead: All signs of rain for today have disappeared from Met Office forecast.
Started off rain this morn but now cleared up, cloudy and dull looking at the moment, not even a hint of sunshine.
Its 18 c but feels more like 12c, wind is 5 to 10 mph.
Forecast says its to get cooler as the week goes on " where's that pullover ? "
 :coffee2:
Mostly a cloudy day with the odd bit of Sun, a few light bits of drizzle now and then with the wind picking up later.
Weather forecast up the creek again. Yesterdays rain was a couple of hours of drizzle during the night and a lovely sunny late afternoon/evening.
Todays rain has been about ten minutes drizzle and about two minutes heavier rain, we seem to have tiptoed through all the rain on the radar and stayed more or less dry. Soil in garden is very dry indeed.
Almost identical here, Digeroo. We need some proper rain!
light rain at the moment, but to light to do any good on the allotment, wind picking up to 15mph, with a chance of possible thunder later in the day, temp is down to 14c, but getting warmer as we go into next week
get the kettle on for a nice cup of :coffee2:
Here in Nantes it is absolutely bucketing down!!! I can just imagine the rot setting in from here :sad10:
A bit of drizzle for the last few days, the wind has picked up today with a touch of Sunshine.
Dry...again. We've had one day of light rain (two days ago) in what feels like months. By yesterday you wouldn't have known it had been. So out with the hose again tonight, since a lot of what I grow is in containers.
17c, rain pm, wind 10 to 20 mph
the rain is here, its pi**ing down now looks like its in for the day
Just had a light shower but now the sun is trying to break through.
Very dry here, potatoes and rhubarb keeling over. Desperately doing rain dance. Lets hope forecast rain appears, I am off this evening to watch some Shakespeare outside so it is bound to pour.
Periods of light rain, with Possible thunder, Temp 16c, but feels more like 11c in the WSW wind @ 23KLM PH.
the sun has just come out.
A real mixture. Started off mild with cloud, followed by a few showers, then the wind really picked up, the heavy rain followed with fine Sunshine since, still windy though. :blob7: :sunny: :drunken_smilie:
Just got back from the allotment, tried out my new grass hook, which doesn't work very well, and didn't water. Got some Council compost and some manure, no wood chip yet. Got home and the heavens opened, tennis at Queens cancelled but didn't realise that I was watching Murray in the final last year. He was crying when he lost, can't stand him or his mother.
Off topic, again, but the sun is out now. Just had to tell Kev about the lovely, loads and loads of Council compost.
Had some rain yesterday filled one of my water butts, not quite filled the other. :icon_cheers: Now there is a dry layer below the surface of the soil. But it did water my carrot seeds. Had some sunshine too but it was very windy.
Today wind dropped.
I have to pay £1/ bag for council compost: bit of a struggle filling bags and then carting it about :tongue3:, nice to get it delivered free. I am concerned about it containing selective weedkillers due to lawn clippings.
Hoping to get to the lottie today as still have stuff to go in. So cold and very windy here yesterday, bit worried as to what damage they'll be. At least everythings well watered given all the rain we've had last few days.
Digeroo which council are you getting your compost from? One and only lot I bought from my council was such rubbish that I buy from lottie shop. I no its dearer, but worth it for peace of mind and quality.
Its a pale grey sky and light wind so far today, so on with the boots and in with the plants :sunny: :toothy10:
More cloud than sun, wind 5 to 10 mph/ temp 17c, slight chance of rain pm. don't think I will need :glasses9:
 :coffee2:
Dull but mild here with light spit, but drying seconds after it lands.
21c is to days temp, 16mph wind speed
that wind never goes away.
more or less the same as Monday 21c wind same speed.
correct me if I am wrong but it will soon be the longest day
and the nights will soon be drawing in towards the winter months, and not even had a summer as yet, at least not to call one ?.
sorry for the doom and gloom, but that's how I feel at this moment
 :coffee2: jim
Dull and humid here today, up to 24c tommorrow. :drunken_smilie:
temp a bit down to day @ 16c, wind east @ 5 to10 mph, light rain @ the moment. :coffee2:
In France it's just totally odd. Some places this week have had a heatwave, others have had floods. We have had quite cool days, extremely cloudy with some drizzle but today there is a bit of sun so getting warm again (around 18 deg). The humidity in the air however is horrible, it has been what I would call "cloying" for the week. Sounds like perfect blight weather, boo hoo. But when I treat them it blimmin' well rains! Sod's law.
Hot and humid here for the past few days with with some very light showers. :happy7:
17c cloudy and dry wind 5 to10 MPH some showers later in the day.
After some drizzly showers this morning, the sun is now putting in an appearance. Car thinks it is 21C.
Snowing at allotment- whoops no! it is the seeds from the willow trees.
turned out better than expected a lot warmer late on sun blazing down no sign of the rain :glasses9: jim
Wind getting stronger! south west 20 to 30 MPH, the wind makes it feel a lot cooler more like 12c
than 16c, with light rain.
Nice bit of rain last night nearly filled the water butt. :icon_cheers: Rather windy today, but we seem to be tiptoeing through the showers again this morning. Ground still bone dry a few inches below the surface.
Strong winds could gust to over 40mph with rain at times , feels cold in the wind, a high of 14c today. so that's it a c**p day is forecasted.
 :coffee2:
Dry at the moment but rain forecast pm wind north west at 29 mph with a high of 15c so not to warm for the end of June.
Dull, dreary and dry all day, NOW the Sun decides to show it's face. :sunny:
18c :glasses9: wind 10 to 15 MPH, not a bad day apart from the wind keeping the temp low! that wind never goes away, it blows day in day out its a pain in the orchestral stalls  :coffee2:

Hot and Sunny for the last two weeks creeping up into the early thirty's, kids swimming pool is up, so its bound to cool down now. :glasses9: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Another scorcher building up here.. :sunny:
And here, no wind to speak of either. Watering is taking hours, just trying to keep the place looking reasonable fot the judging next week. We're having to leave the flowers to it aand concentrate on the veg so not much prettiness :sad1:
Just about keeping up with what needs to be done. Every time I water I think I can't keep this up. Even harvesting is not so enjoyable.
The last two days it's hit 90ºF (32ºC) - there's been no rest from the constant sun.
I'm starting to wonder whether deciding to garden in a place with no water supply was a good idea. My well has gone dry, I'm almost out of rainwater reserves and there doesn't seem to be any chance soon of naturally occurring water coming from the sky!
Another scorcher, we have had over 30 here for a good week; They are saying storms this evening, but I will have to go water I think, I have not been able to since Sunday and heaven knows what it all looks like. I have mulched and soaked well then, but...
We are expecting some showers over the next few days here, just intermittent with again very hot stormy conditions. I don't know if it will be enough though. My rain barrels are empty and I am onto the taps on the site already.
right now its 79f it hit 88f yesterday that's to hot for my liking its now gone up to 83f.
Sat with the shed door open to give a bit of shade having planted out a hundred flower plug plants. No breeze to speak of and 27 in the shade. Got to get up in a bit to water all the containers we've planted for the judges :BangHead:
Yay, the suns gone behind a cloud, I'm off to water, wish me luck :toothy10:
84F, sunny 0% chance of rain, light wind, may get to 29c even 30c next week, lets hope not!
A cooler cloudy day yesterday dropping to 25c. :toothy10:
dull and cloudy very little sunshine at the moment with a temp of 84f, wind east at 13 mph so a nice refreshing breeze
no chance of rain at all
Cooler this morning and mostly cloudy. Skies are now blue and it's hot hot hot!
28c forecasted to day, with a wind strength of 11 mph. and 20% chance of rain fall.
Stair rods.
Sat in bed listening to the thunder and the rain watering all the plants we arranged for the judges to see today. Won't have to carry watering cans or turn the tap water on. Still warm, watch out for blight now, perfect weather for it :happy7:
lots of lightening at 3.30 am and thunder and a light sprinkle of rain. Doh, I was hoping for a lot more
Finally some water! It has been raining steadily for over an hour, so hopefully the lottie will be able to have a good drink which it really needs. Very stormy although they predict the return of the hot weather tomorrow;
24c and thunder storms to day. wind south @ 6 mph, with an 80% chance of rain.
Thunder an lightening here. Gonna send Tone up to the plot with compost and let him water the GH. I don't like being out in it. At least he won't have to water the plot.
Thunderstorm early this morning and more rain through the day. Hooray! Very muggy, though. :(
Thunder rumbling in the distance all night
Woke up to the rain, thunder and lightening
A heavy down pour about 7am ish
Brightened up with the Sun coming out and really warming up
Rain again about 12.30
Muggy the rest of the day with a few light showers this evening. :tongue3:
Cloudy start, sunny afternoon and evening, sadly no rain.
The 24 hours up to 22.00 Tuesday saw 63mm rain (2.5").
Haven,t been able to get to lotty yet to see what good and bad it mat have done. Got a horrible feeling the maincrop spuds may well split with the sudden wetting.
There was hail mixed in with it as well but I hope the courgettes and gherkins may have escaped too much damage.
Poured down last evening but no thunder temp now is 71f
23c, 70% chance of rain, wind speed 11 mph south.
going for a run out in the country with a friend at lunch time couple of drinks and lunch at the Derby

Nice bit of good steady rain yesterday evening all my butts are full. Though still not enough to thoroughly moisten the soil.
Lovely sunny morning at the lottie already this morning. Hopefully will dry off the potatoes and tomatoes before the next downpour tonight. Which has now just disappeared from the forecast.
Dull overcast morning with a 60% chance of rain later in the day. A temp of 22c and a wind speed of 16 MPH, feels fresher than of late. :coffee2: :coffee2:
Cloudy, sunny, breezy, rain.. had the lot and its only 12.20.. Probably going to empty it down the minute I set foot outside to go up to my friend's house for tea, cake and a good old gossip

I've been away in France since Friday and we've had some thundery nights and early morning rain with Hot Sunny afternoons, Monday was a bit cloudier though. Raining now at home, is the summer over. :drunken_smilie:
It rained stair rods early this morning! but sun now blazing down and a high of 19c, wind top speed of 11 mph so not to hot and a breeze. a nice day for the beer garden. after all winter is not far away, so make the most of summer.

The Sun's been out since 3ish after raining since this morning. :sunny:
It's raining..again .. although the in-built app on the laptop says it is mostly cloudy..(wonder why I never believe it)
Being picked up at 12 am for a run to Great Eecle stone a small village near to the fyld coast Lancashire and a walk along the river wyre that runs through the village, plenty of food and a few drinks, should be a good day out
jim and friends
Forecast for Friday is 27c, wind speed 11 mph, so it looks like a warm day is on the way, looking forward to a day out in the country side
Very warm last night, glad we fitted ceiling fans. Off to Cornwall for a fortnight so wish us luck with the weather :toothy10: :sunny:
31c yesterday with the sun out at 6am and staying out all day, very hot at night. :sunny:
After the hot hot hot yesterday it was supposed to rain this morning. But only had a very few tiny spots and now the sun is shining. Just shows we have our own micro climate, because about 8 miles away in Brize Norton they logged rain at 7,8 and 10.
rain this afternoon
It done chucked it down this morning - huge raindrops - the sort that knock flowers to bits - and plenty of them. I was wringing my socks out when I got to work..

A bright morning with Sunny spells 22c expected. :sunny:
Rain and sunshine on and off but warm in the south west :sunny: :toothy10:
Yesterday forecast rain turned into about 10 single drops but otherwise it was overcast.
I was looking forward to the deluge last night. Went out early to cheer Noah on as he sailed past. But actually we had less than 1/4 inch (6mm) and the soil is still dry as a bone just below the surface. Now as usual we are tiptoeing through the showers.
Warm and muggy all day with the odd light shower but has started to rain in the last 1/2 an hour, lets hope it keeps raining at old trafford. :toothy10:
Just had very heavy rain here, and I watered the allotment. Had to put the light on to read my book.
Thunder &lighting ,but not for long ,the rain was bouncing this lasted about 1hr,blue sky now what next?
Floods/showers, dry spells with some sun yesterday but lovely and warm. Bit grey at the mo, looking forward to being on the beach with the grandchildren later. So funny, watching them, where have all the years gone :sunny:

Looks more like November to day , dark and over cast sky, but its dry, its 63f and looks like rain - winter is on its way !
Jim
Water, water everywhere. Travelling up from cornwall, quite heavy rain. Supposed to be nicer tomorrow, ready for harvesting :toothy10:
Sunny spells early on, with dark clouds the rest of the day and only a brief shower. :drunken_smilie:
Wet and stormy here, hopefully better tomorrow.
Same here- wet, windy and dark this afternoon and evening but forecast to be sunny tomorrow.
Lot of cloud around, 64F so still quite warm out and dry but a possible chance of showers later on.
sun now out, so they could be wrong? lets hope so ! as I need to go to the allotment to have a look around, not been for over 2 weeks.
Currently very grey, drizzly and foggy (looks like someone stole the rest of the world when I look out the window).. meant to be chucking it down for the rest of the day.
Sure it isn't November already?
Rain yesterday? What rain? Ground as dry as a bone. :BangHead:
Mostly cloudy wind 5 to 7 MPH slight chance of rain later

After a foggy start a scorcher today in the eighties. :sunny:
How can the temp drop so much tommorrow and rain all day. :drunken_smilie:
Its 15c outside with very little sun and a wind of 14 mph with a 50% chance of rain, a sign that winter is on the way. The clocks change in around seven weeks, dark days and cold days and nights- I think I can put these a way :glasses9: till next spring.
:toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: but now the sun is shining :toothy4: :toothy4: :toothy4:
I think before we have winter I will make an effort to enjoy the autumn. Thinking of all those lovely leaves.
Thunderstorm and hail! Goodness me!!
Weird weather here in Yorkshire! Cold, warm, wet, dry. Driving home the sky was blue and the sun was shining, then like a layer over the top was a massive dark rain cloud and it suddenly tipped it down. A mile further on no rain at all.
First day I've felt the cold today, mind you getting wet at work didn't help. :coffee2:
Damp, cold and quite miserable actually ................ autumn (or is it winter) came as a bit of a shock after the lovely warm weather at the beginning of the month.
The forecasters say we are in fore a rough day of gale force winds and a torrent of rain in the north. At the moment its like November, very dark looking and raining 52F no wind as yet, but that's to come later in the day
Jim  :coffee2: :coffee2: .
Brrr. 46F (7.7 C) here this AM.
Guess swimming is a no. But the dahlias and roses don't seem to care.
the forecasted high winds never came, but plenty of rain fall.
its been raining all morning.
Wet and windy, brrrr.
We have had about 5 hours of rain, but I think it is just easing off now. Really pleased hopefully the soil will be getting diggable. Doing a sun dance now. I think I am winning. :icon_cheers: :sunny:
Nice weather today for the runner beans. Tomorrow should be good for picking.
10c/50f very dark looking and raining
Sunny spells and warm, feels hot when the sun is out :sunny:
dry but verey dull looking, not a hint of sun shine 63 f so its not cold out my scooter is all charged up and ready to go on my weekly trip round town inc a visit tp £oundland and then to visit a friend who is ill at the moment
jim
Dull and overcast here too.
Lovely sunny, warm day so far. A nice change from the wind and rain last few days.
The good news is we had 1/2 inch of rain last night, the bad news is that that is the total increase in water depth in my water butt from the entire roof. So not even 1/2 a can full.
I looked at rain today and about 5:45 we had a large orange blob right on top. Imagine my excitement. We have had no significant rain for weeks. Went outside and admired Orion. Stars were magnificent no sign of a cloud anywhere.
Maybe tomorrow.
:toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2: :toothy2:
The weeds are getting very excited.
Shame it has stopped already.
Cloudy grey day.
Nice start to the day, now chucking it down.
Been heavy rain here in Swindon since last night.
Just as well - can't go to the plot been poorly with the bug that's doing the rounds all week :sad4:
Dense fog - which turned pink just as the sun came up! Very pretty but only lasted a few minutes.
Wet and very windy, not nice.
Rained for most of yesterday and all night, for a few hours this morning but has cleared up and brighter for the time being.
Thunder and lightening, heavy rain last night and again this morning ..but now the sun has put his hat on ...and blue skies again Mullion Cornwall :sunny:
Rain, rain and more rain. The vegetable garden is so muddy and I have almost 2 inches of mud clinging to my outdoor shoes from when I dug some potatoes out this morning. Ugh!
I got soaked through too despite having a coat on and had to change into a complete set of dry clothes when back indoors.
Heavy rain in the night. Very wet and quite windy so far today too.
very heavy rain in the Rhymney Valley of South Wales since saturday my chicken run is saturated
Chucking it down again today.

Chucking it down again today.
Grumpy old woman alert:
Same here, garden is getting squelchy again, big puddles in surrounding fields - are we getting flooded again all winter like last year? And it is damp and dark which makes it feel much colder than it is.
Rant over!
Lovely yesterday, wet and yucky today.
It looks like I chose the best time to visit my sister here in Calgary! I arrived in sunny, warm (17C) weather on the 14th and it has been like that ever since, with the exception of Wednesday when it was only 10C and very windy. There is so much sky here at 3000ft above sea level - and it's all bright blue. We are going to drive out to the small town just north of here where I used to live to have a look around. Apparently it has grown almost beyond recognition in the 14 years since I left so it should be interesting.
A sharp fall in temperatures is forecast for Sunday, so maybe this beautiful late 'Fall' weather will soon be over and there is a chance of snow flurries next week. I may yet get a chance to see some snow before I leave for soggy old England.
Tricia
Sounds gorgeous Tricia :sunny:
Showers and some nasty gusts. Quite hard to stay on my bicycle at times - and it isn't even the great storm yet. The second I got home, the sun started shining, but now it is raining again.
Very windy with showers but with worse to come on Monday, batten down the hatches peeps. :BangHead:
Not too bad today- quite windy at times but mostly dry and a bit of sun. Still only forecasting 22mph winds here on Sun/Mon.
Looks like it is going to blow a hooley tomorrow and I had planned a trip to Southampton for a night of music. Don't think the boats will run now.
Wind picked up yesterday afternoon-evening, blustery night with some very heavy rain and few crashes of thunder. Very windy this morning but a few small breaks in the clouds letting in a little sunshine here and there.
Quote from: ACE on October 26, 2013, 21:39:01
Don't think the boats will run now.
I don't think so either if it's anything like it is here. Not something you want to get caught out in.
I'm getting a bit worried we're flying to Madeira at 07.10 Monday morning from Gatwick!!
Early hours of Sunday morning house was shaking , heavy rain has left its mark around here a lot of local flooding, and a lot of broken hearts with promises from the council that it wont happen again but homes and shops all took the brunt of it. Never a good or bad time of the year for this to happen, and not only our Country the world has seen death and destruction . Will put wellies on and try and help out in the morning Hope every one keeps save .
Just a bit of damage to one half of the drive gates. Nothing to worry about. Blew through at its strongest 95 mph on my wind gauge but not for long.
here in preston theres no wind blowing just a few showers of rain, looks like we missed it for now !!
Not bad here in South London this morning.. Cycled to work as normal, bit of a stiff breeze and a few trees down but nothing of any consequence.
Roads almost empty - half term I guess - massive queues for buses as all the trains are stopped..
Raining all morning but now stoped sun now starting to peep out, Outside temp of 10.c with a low of 7.c.
Inside its a nice 22.c
 :coffee2: and more :coffee2:
Watery sunshine its 11c outside 22 inside, a dry day no wind
 :coffee2:
Frost this morning- had to scrape the car!
stopped raining, now sun is shining
6c outside so it feels cold, but not cold inside thanks to central heating being fitted.
cold again this morning, only 4c outside with light rain and very dark looking, winter is starting early this year, are we in for a bad spell of weather, ice and snow ? I hope not !!
:coffee2:  :coffee2:
A better day to day, a bit warmer and dry'r , but forecast gives a warning of strong winds up to gale force on Wednesday, so be warned.
GALE FORCE WINDS FOR TODAY...WHAT WINDS!!
looks like another false alarm.
Thick frost on the car this morning took some time to chip it off, lawn white. Nasturtiums have crumbled. Otherwise lovely bright sunny morning.
Lovely morning the suns out :sunny: and it's dry, I's only 8c outside so i'ts not to warm out and that wind has got up a bit
Can't say .............................................. an hour ago we had a gale and rain was gushing down, then hail started, suddenly blue sky and a few white puffy clouds looking out of the front windows. At the moment there is only the most gentle breeze, but looking out of the windows at the back, it is grey, dark skies and looks like more rain or even sleet.
It is however perishing cold and unpleasant.
What a mix here too! Really windy in the night, still quite blustery today, squally showers, short patches of blue skies and some sunshine, rain, hail. Altogether a cold day.
Stormy night, wind was so loud it sounded like it was roaring? Ground is sodden with all the rain too. I'm not looking forward to the next week.
Quite stormy again last night, some heavy rain showers and hail. Winds dropped a bit this morning and patches of blue sky scattered amongst the clouds!
Not nice. Wet, wild and very windy.
It is been rather wet here today and the wind has been blowing. It will be interesting to see if any trees are still standing tomorrow.
It has been tipping it down here for most of 17 hours. Looks like there will be at least a couple of hours more.
Swindon will be in chaos tomorrow, there is only one bridge over the railway line and the rest go under and have a tendency to fill up with several feet of water.
After two or so days of stormy weather the Sun is out. :sunny:
It was lovely at the lottie this morning, when I went to get some fresh veg. Everything is very soggy.
River Thames has been rising there is now a set of huge lakes.
Not clear if there is going to be a repeat performance on Thursday night.
Nice day yesterday, the sun shone for part of the day and no wind :sunny:
Back to storms today following a wild night.
Blimmin' bucketing down again,we have had heavy rain over most of the Christmas break. The lottie is a sodden mess but it made it rather easy to dig up the gooseberry bushes. The transplanted ones have at least been well watered into the ground!!!
So much rain and wind, ferries cancelled, trees down, and flooding in some coastal towns. On the bright side very warm so even the central heating does not kick in. I need four wheel drive to get on the parking area as I have just levelled and filled in holes before I dress it all with a few tons of gravel. It is a mudbath at the moment, but it should pack down hard when I can get on it and roll it. Poor dogs cannot get out in the garden and I have temporary fenced off the decking for a run for them. It make house training the little one hard, but she has got it at last. Plenty of treats and pats on the head.
Supposed to come up again tonight, like last night and back to time inmemorial it seems like.
Just had the mother of all hail stones here with really loud thunder, hail stones about half the size of golf balls and covered the lawn in a couple of minutes
Hope all you A4Aers in western UK are doing UK as the weather looks right fearsome in your part of the world today! It is very rainy here and a bit windy but not too bad just now.
It's been raining here all day, so very wet. Hope the really flooded parts aren't getting it too, I can hardly imagine how bad things are. Keep safe.
It's pouring here too. Severe drought where my friend lives in Colorado, extreme heat in Melbourne and snowing in Calgary. I guess these extremes in the world weather patterns are what we are going to have to get used to!!
Tricia
Wet and windy...again.. Hurry up spring!
I used to update my weather every other day, now I just can't be bothered to type wet and windy everyday. :BangHead: :coffee2:
2 fence panels totally down today. Is there no end to this wind and rain?
I'm really confused a weather year so far like no other not cold but windy and wet and not clear what spring it will transition to - only certainties are no hosepipe ban. Time for Rice and watercress ? perhaps
A tad on the wild side, but not all the time, in the space of half an hour, torrential rain, hailstones, gale force winds and then blazing sunshine.
Very windy but the rain has slowed a bit, off to the footie later so hope it stays ok. :coffee2:
It's been really horrid the last few days, but luckily a little respite from the wind and rain today. Even some sunshine WOOHOO :blob7:
Cold and wet early on, but the old currant bun popped out for a veiwing later on. :sunny:
Heavy rain yesterday, the full works today!
Storms and more storms in the south wales valleys , i have given up trying to put a cover on my chicken run . at least we have not been flooded unlike the poor soles elswhere . Allotment site looks like a disaster zone trees down greenhouses wrecked .
Never heard winds like this round here before. :BangHead:
Seems to have calmed down here now. I expect we will all be moaning about lack of water and high temperatures this summer. Glad now we didn't move to live by the sea, hope ACE hasn't got blown away.
What a change! A very slight frost first this morning and so far it's beautifully sunny with just the lightest breeze. The garden seems to have come alive with birds singing :happy7:
I woke up in a different world today, a big yellow thing in the sky whick I found out later to be the Sun, :sunny: and not a single gust of wind. :sunny: :blob7:
A bit breezy, but beautifully sunny so far :sunny:
Very light, patchy frost overnight. Looks like it might be a nice morning in part, bit of cloud, blue sky and a touch of sunshine.
Sunny spells yesterday and the big golden ball is out at the mo. :sunny: :blob7:
Light frost last night, dull and overcast today
Summer has come to Enfield today. :sunny: :sunny:
Glad you had sunshine Borlotti :sunny:
Wet this morning, mostly light rain but still seems to get you wet in no time! Mild though.
Warm, sunny day here. Noticed a lot of butterflies down at the allotment. Think they might have been Painted Ladies but not sure. It's the earliest I've seen butterflies so hope this is the start of a long, hot summer.
The ground at the allotment is still quite wet but at least the fork went in easy. Really got my work cut out as I now have 2 allotments :toothy10:
A warm Sunny one all day today. :glasses9: :sunny:
:sunny: Sun seems to have his hat on today :icon_cheers:
A scorcher. :sunny: :glasses9:
Sunny here in Swindon but cooler than it was at the weekend. Shame I'm at work - would rather be on the allotment.
Rain in the night, but sunny first thing. Birds are singing :happy7:
Here in Chesterfield it was overcast first thing but the sun's breaking through now. Might be a nice day!
Very cold, a little bit of sun this morning, but snow/hail/rain since then. Only 3C during the snow shower. So we are getting a winter after all ..................... :(
Little moments of sunshine ..then torrential ice cold rain and hail . It is a reminder for me to get cloches out before I plant out my baby cabbages .
Generally it has been getting warmer now down here in Cornwall , all the spring flowers are out . Helebores , Camilias , daffs , primroses and violets...and weed seedlings are emerging ..things are happening out there ! :coffee2: look after yourselves and wrap up warm :angel11:
Looks really grey today, quite cold, very light breeze.
Sunny :icon_cheers:
Sunny :icon_cheers:
Breeze is cold though.
After a couple of weeks of shorts and T shirts we are now having a Scottish summer, dark, wet and miserable.
Swindon. Cold, wet, windy and miserable. Typical bank holiday weather.
Saturday Sunny
Sunny dull then rain
Today Sunny start with evening drizzle. :drunken_smilie:
Innocently weeding around my plot then the most furious rain and thunder broke out around 4pm overhead in East Sussex (Battle), completely NOT forecast. Took refuge in someone's abandoned hut for 45 minutes, then skies cleared and I was able to plant potatoes.
Nice sunny day here until about 3pm when the clouds started to build. Wasn't at the allotment long when it started to thunder but at least it didn't come overhead, sort of went round the valley. It rained a bit but not enough to stop me working. Thunder wasn't forecast here either.
Horrible horrible horrible!
Heavy downpours all day long ... and the same predicted all weekend!
Thought we'd done well being away for a week (London, Cambridge , Norfolk and Lincolnshire) and only had rain on one day, but we got drenched on our final walk in the Lincolnshire Wolds today and it rained all the way home to Tadcaster.
Very heavy rain here today too. Skies cleared and sun came out around 6pm. Hoping it stays dry for most of tomorrow as I'm supposed to be getting the shed from one of my work colleagues.
Raining overnight but looks as though its stopped for a while as clouds clearing from the east. Pity it wasn't raining thursday morning when other half managed to burn down the work shop and part of the garage.
Looks like it is going to be another grey day here.
Quote from: Jayb on May 04, 2014, 06:53:22
Looks like it is going to be another grey day here.
Sorry to hear that. Sunny here just now but there is a lot of cloud too. Another cold night but not actually frosty. Yesterday it took a while to warm up, but then it was the first T-shirt day of the year.
Hope you will see a bit of :sunny: too in the South West.
Yesterday it was beautiful...and today is just cloudy, just as the forecast says and it is supposed to stay so aaaaalll day..
Nice and Sunny at the weekend :sunny: burnt the top of my head a nice day today shame I had to work. :glasses9:
This morning I was just about to set off for the allotment when the most almighty hailstorm with teeming rain crashed in from somewhere. Someone called on us shortly afterwards and said he was forced to pull off the A21 because his wipers could not cope with the hailstones. It's quieter now, but there are still, 2 hours later, small drifts of hailstones in corners of the garden. Glad I hadn't put out any seedlings to harden off.
Patch sort of day some sunshine but mostly cloudy, no rain as yet.
Glad you didn't get caught in the hail, or you plants, it would have done some damage!
Beautiful sunny morning, blue skies and slightest of breeze :sunny:
Same here, glorious morning, deep blue skies. Our tamarisk is in full pink bloom and looks stunning against that sky.
Different story yesterday evening. Violent thunderstorms with downpours of rain and sustained hail - Awful. After the bashing the plants had in the storms a couple of days ago, now this. I daren't go out and investigate! Fortunately the hail was small size, just that there was a lot of it. Looked like the garden had got snow on it.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the plot, tidying up a lot and planting out the sweet peppers and tomatoes. I had just finished when a violent shower erupted with loads of tiny hailstones!!!! aaarrrgghhh. I cowered in the shed with a thermos of coffee while the heavens opened up.
Luckily on inspection the tomatoes had just been dirt splattered and seemed unharmed. The peppers were cloched so they were OK. I felt a bit guilty for them! But as it was my only day off, they had to go out.
Nice weather predicted for the next 3 days so hopefully with some sun they will perk up. They have certainly been well watered!!!
Lovely sunny day here today in Enfield, north London. All the seed trays are out in the garden to get some sun. Hope it stays fine for next week as going to Poole, Dorset. Going to look at the price of houses around Bournemouth, Wareham etc. Will try and plant out some toms and courgettes before I go. Strawberries should be good when I get back, I hope. :sunny: Put Dulce's bed back in the plastic greenhouse and left the door open, covered the water butt, not only with plastic cover but with wood in case he jumps on it. Have got next door and granddaughter to feed him, so he should be OK. Cat flap will be open so he can go in the kitchen, hopefully no dead birds brought in. Funny much I will miss my seeds/plants and the allotment and the cat, and only going away for 4 days.
Looks to be another beautiful sunny day :icon_cheers: :sunny:
Washout weekend, 'tis very rainy here :BangHead:
Overcast.
Bright, sunny and warm in North Essex
Anne
It's been a lovely weekend and today is mostly sunny too here in Southern Brittany. Sounds like a good time to go and have a hoe and bordeaux mixture the spuds this evening! I find if you do it in a dry patch it sticks much better to the plants.
Rain overnight, cloudy today.
Chucking it down this morning and bordering on torrential at times, hope it doesn't last!
The Sun is shining after some rain this morning. :sunny:

The Sun is shining after some rain this morning. :sunny:
Cloudy, faintly drizzly and quite cold. Very dark thick clouds, no sun. Hope it will come through later.
Hot, hot, hot. :sunny: :sunny:
Sun, Sun, sun :icon_cheers: :sunny: :glasses9:
Hot hot hot still, but a tad too dry. I am having to go three times a week to the lottie to water and mulch.
This morning there was a little shower but just a refresher, didn't really water that much. It will help out the things I don't really water by hand though (flowers).
Sunny Saturday and Sunday morning followed by showers, Suns out at the mo. :sunny:
It's been raining here in Essex :blob7: this is the first decent amount in 5 weeks! hope it rains all night! fed up carting my heavy watering can around our 3 lottys but we must do it ! I need some weight training for all this watering :toothy10:
It's been raining here for over a week and has been cold, wet, windy and so dull I've needed the lights on by day. Fed up with it now. I've managed quite a bit of gardening between downpours in the last 3 days but everything is starting to feel as damp as if I'd been camping in the Lake District for 3 weeks and when the sun shines it's as humid as Florida.
Horrible - and the weeds just love it. Treasures and crops not so happy. Humph! And the dogs come back filthy from walkies or the garden so the floor needs constant wiping. Double humph!!
:sunny: Hot and sunny all week. :glasses9: :sunny: :icon_cheers:
We have not had much rain for some time now. They promised it Thursday but it was a cracker of a sunny day. They promised it Friday and yes the spots did join up just, it was promised Sunday and yes there was three minutes of drizzle and then lovely again in the afternoon.
My runner beans are drying up.
It was lovely first thing this morning very lovely at the Lottie. Now it is hazy sunnyside, with rain drifting in across Wales, not convinced we will get any. Met office down graded the two rain drops to one and that will probably miss us.
It is going to be a scorcher here, 35 deg... I ran down to the plot before work (literally) and watered and threw a sheet of fleece over the newly planted brassicas and leeks, to give them some shade. I also put a plastic fruit crate over the newly sown seeds to shade them. At least it will make the tomatoes ripen more quickly!!! We recently had some rain and drizzle so the ground is not too dry. But I think the poor veg will suffer in the heat like us.
30+ here today and hotter tomorrow. :sunny:
Feels like we're going to get a wee thunderstormette here in Oxford before the night's out ... nice of nature to do the watering after a scorcher like that!
Heatwave? It's peeing down!
Could see lightening flashing in the distance but not a drop on the garden, and nothing on the lottie either, but there were puddles around the roundabout between the two.
Everything getting very dry here but the water table is still quite high so my rhubarb looks very bonny.
Lots of rain & massive thunderstorms over night but lovely & sunny again now :glasses9: :glasses9:
Lots of lightning overnight but by the morning less than 1/2 cm of rain. Still very close so hope yet for a wet!
Wonderful it was actually raining. :icon_cheers:
Not the promised hours of deluge but for an hours or so it was nice and steady. Plants will love it. It will fatten up my autumn raspberries very nicely. I do believe the plants seem to benefit from water on their leaves.
Heavy rain on Saturday, but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. Everything's still pretty dry. Overcast today, but no rain.
Torrential rain - has been going for hours, Places not far from us are flooded, we can't be far behind. This rain is so heavy! inches of it and several thunderstorms this afternoon. I am sure the forecast said a few heavy showers - this is much more severe.
A few spots yesterday and then a little more during the evening. Just enough to get the slugs excited.
Still dry as a bone below the surface and nothing reached the ground under the trees. Desperate for rain particularly for raspberries. Maybe tomorrow.
Amazing :toothy2: it is raining. :toothy2: Looks like it will do more than dampen the surface. :toothy2: First real rain for weeks. :toothy2: Maybe 10 weeks :toothy2:
Though I have enjoyed the sunshine. :toothy4: :toothy4: :toothy4:
Yep. Hissing down here, lays the dust I suppose, won't be for long. Big outdoor party to get ready for next weekend. So it can stop now if it wants to.
Lots of rain here too.
Rain, rain and rain.
Near miss with the kiss of death! Local weather station (Crondall) records overnight low of 2.2 deg C
at 06.32 this morning. Is this the lowest?
A little misty first thing, suns come through and it looks like it will be a lovely sunny day, hardly a breeze at the moment.
Sunny in the twentys all week. :glasses9: :sunny:
Sunny here today in Enfield, and even more sunny because Cornykev is back and posting. :sunny: :sunny:
Quite a big frost here last night! The end of a superb Indian summer.
4 degrees at East Midlands Airport. No sign of frost at home but might be different on the plot.
6 degrees in Chesterfield. Everything's still alive!
Definite frost here overnight in Loughborough.
Brrrr!
2 degrees Brize Norton - hard frost here. Lawn very white. Should have covered my courgettes. :tongue3:
A crisp morning with the Sun out for the past three hours, better than the wet miserable day yesterday. :glasses9:
Frost doesn't seem to have been as bad on my plot a couple of miles away. Only the Yacon showing droopy leaves in places - but most of the plants seem unscathed.
Stormy, wet windy night, not nice.

Same here - some yacon tops are frosted. Squash and courgettes are gone. Late beans still hanging on. For once I have been successful with Cobra - and just spotted new flowers! But they are enjoying the warmth of a compost dalek right next to them. f
Oca and Jerusalem Artichokes are in flower. That's a rare sight here. The outdoor tomatoes that made it through the blight are still flowering and producing, but I am taking off good sized green fruit to ripen indoors, because blight is still around although not as rampant as it is so much cooler.
Yesterday we had inches of rain and it was quite windy and nasty. OH called it 'soaking rain'. Roll on the promised Indian Summer
A Christmas treat, blue skies first thing :icon_cheers:
Snow here! :D
Must be cold on the north island. We even got a frost here. warming up nice now with the sunny skys.
First frost of the winter here - my outdoor sensor measured -2.6C and the birdbath had a 3cm thick ice covering. 4C currently in spite of the lovely sunshine though.
Tricia
Frost here the last 3 days, but no snow. Nice blue skies and sunshine but freezing out of the sun!
Foghorns blowing on the solent. -5c on the weather report.
Still plenty of show on ground...freezing fog and the air feels soooo cold...BRRRR!
Located between Ace and Goodlife, and it is freezing cold and sunny. Had visitors yesterday and I struggled to dig parsnips, the ground is frozen hard. All the roofs are white, the sun is so weak and low in the sky.
Freezing here- poor daughter had her first experience of having to scrape ice off outside and inside of car before going to work after not using the car for a few days- took her ages!
Half an inch of snow. Everythings come to a standstill. stocked up with emergency rations.
Snowing in London but not much - I'm off for a quick ten mile ride before work!
Snowing in Dartford but not a lot
About an inch here in at our new home in Three Legged Cross Dorset
(http://i61.tinypic.com/2iiejbb.jpg)
cleaned Judes car off before she went off to work this morn, did try for a snow ball around her earole, but ive got to wait till she comes home later for us too play in the snow....... :icon_cheers:
Got our resident Jay on the back garden feeding stump that I got from the forest,it was happy munching in the snow.
Gazza
Smattering of snow here. Apparently a couple of inches in Swindon.
Great pic of jay. I used to see one on my plot. But not survived the Red Kite. Will not be long before they reach Dorset. The Jays are really tame in Turkey and queue up along the paths after breakfast would even take it from your hand if it was quiet.
Still some icy snow here from last week, we had about 5-6 inches. It's pretty cold.
Bright sunny morning :sunny:
No snow here, it's been frosty the last couple of mornings.
Very sunny here now!
Overcast in Birmingham, with a few flakes.
Well the sun is out, but, it's really freezing cold. A brass monkey asked if I knew a good welder.
Absolutely freezing in Cornwall, ground hard and wind icy. Just spent the afternoon in the greenhouse with seeds and trays and dog lying on the grass in the sun - lovely and warm until the sun moved round. Dog gave up first, now both in with a cup pf tea.
Kinell! That was a rough night. Wheelie bins going off for a wander, fences blown down, gates banging I was even worried about the windows blowing in. Too noisy to sleep properly.
Whoops I left my brassica seedlings outside, they are now in the blown over class.
High winds from the Pennines in Durham but no damage so far. Harvested purple sp broccoli, red Brussels and baby turnip.
After some really high winds last week its a joy to have a nice drop of Sunshine for the last few days. :sunny: :icon_cheers:
It felt really cold yesterday, grey all day with rain and a sharp wind, got my thermals back out!
Better today, still grey but only a light breeze.
Oh yes, thermals were needed indeed, we had bit of frost on ground this morning! And yesterday strong gusts that blew all my crop protection netting off... :BangHead:...I had to fight the wind and to keep everything in place by doubling the amount of bricks around the covers.
This morning it is much more calmer again...AND it is :sunny:...that's better :icon_cheers:
After a few hot days its cooled a bit, still windy though. :drunken_smilie:
Its very cold with a biteing wind here in Swindon. Have been weeding a raised bed in the back garden and have come in for a warm up. This is what I get for switching the central heating off. :coffee2:
Lovely sunny day here in Yorkshire yesterday but freezing this morning. Sun came out for a bit this afternoon but now looking like rain (could do with some!).
Gonna be cold tonight, all fleeced up.
Zero degrees at nearby East Midlands Airport at 6.30 this morning with frost on my car
Cold overnight here too, a very slight frost on the grass in patches around the garden and also noticed it frosty on the top of the chicken coop when I was letting the girls out. Beautifully sunny first thing :sunny:
We had first proper downpour with rain today... :icon_cheers: BRILLIANT! Then it stopped, sun came out and so did I :sunny: :smileinbox:...rushed to plant most of the brassicas...all netted up and now ready and waiting for the next lot of rain that should arrive little later.. :icon_cheers: Fingers crossed that it does arrive..it will be just perfect for my newly planted plants, and will save me a job to go around with watering can.
Let it rain....pleeeeease!
Hammering it down at the moment. We've had thunder, lightening and sunshine. IF? the weather reports correct for tomorrow will be planting in the morning. Fingers crossed. :toothy10: :blob7: :sunny:
Beautiful gardening weather on the north east coast today. But didn't manage to get potatoes in, so hoping the weather forecast is wrong -heavy rain sweeping up the country from the south :(
Debs :icon_flower:
Blowing a hoolie here. Had to go to the allotment to check that the shed was alright as I only put it up yesterday and never anchored it down. Got some stakes in and screwed through so it should be alright. Broad beans have taken a battering, i've put extra strings around them so should save most of them.
The winds have been proper blowing here all day, worse than the great storms of Shanklin when Ace overdosed on JA's. :tongue3:
Gale caused some damage here, not so good :BangHead:
Windier than yesterday, I got caught in what I think must have been a mini tornado, one minute I was digging away on the allotment, the wind all of a sudden got really fierce, netting, plastic sheets bin lids flying about all around me, then a small branch fell out of the sky and cracked me on the head. Ran into the shed for shelter until it stopped, I thought the shed was going to take off it was shaking like mad.
Jumped in the motor when I was ready to come home, checked the mirror, then I noticed that there was quite a bit of claret on my face and in my beard. Good job I did not meet anybody they would have thought I was a mass murderer on the loose.
Oh well, there I am like Dorothy beaten and bruised and nearly on my way to the Land of Oz and somebody 'likes' it.
Must be the Wicked Witch of the East :tongue3:
Heavy downpours and winds yesterday, settled down today with Sunny spells with dark cloud inbetween. :sunny:
Pleasant this afternoon, except that I was too shattered to do much after two marathon advice sessions on consecutive days!
Nice and Sunny today. :sunny:
A cooler damper start today but like yesterday getting nice and Sunny in the afternoon a bit windy today though. :sunny:
Another hot Sunny one today, the Sun was breaking through on my way to work and still beaming away outside now. :glasses9: :sunny:
Lovely sunny day yesterday, today it's chucking down the wet stuff!
Earlier on the week it was promised that we would get rain today...it was supposed to be real downpour day :icon_cheers:
BUT....it is sunny with bit of occasional overcast... :BangHead: We NEED the rain...things have just started to grow nicely after last lot of rain, but all this nice weather and wind is drying the land already :BangHead:
Jayb!....send some over here too! Pleeeease?!
You are more than welcome to some, if only I could get it to you!
Sunburn yesterday :sunny:
Soaked today :BangHead:
Like two different seasons in two days :glasses9: :coffee2:
The worlds coming to an end. :drunken_smilie:
What a difference a rain makes. Nice and dry today with a nice growing temperature, all the plants looking fresh and standing up after yesterdays 8 hour soaking.
Back to the Sunny spells today 15 oc :sunny:
Anyone got any sun cream, my face is red, after a good session at the allotment, thank u enfield coucil 4 the rubbish truck. A lovely sunny day, some weeding and some good chats. Also woodchip and manure, so lucky. Not 2 pleased with the snails but cant blame the council 4 them.
Well, we had a frost warning here in the East Midlands on both Wednesday and Thursday night, but fortunately got nowhere near it.
Been so dry I had to water the parsnip and beetroot drills. Due some rain early next week which is good 'cause I'm off to Madeira next week.
Another Sunny :sunny: afternoon after a dull windy start. :glasses9:
Heavy rain overnight and chucking it down again this morning. I'm hoping it brightens up a bit this afternoon...
Pleased to see rain this morning after sun and wind dried everything out over the weekend. Just need it to be dry this evening for going to the plot.
A wet windy morning with the Sun coming out in the afternoon. :glasses9:
Hot, hot, hot. Even warm enough for these to come in close. http://www.iwcp.co.uk/news/news/dolphins-make-a-splash-off-the-isle-of-wight-84381.aspx (http://www.iwcp.co.uk/news/news/dolphins-make-a-splash-off-the-isle-of-wight-84381.aspx)
:icon_cheers: - it's been chuckling it down here this morning, really heavily at times so hopefully the butts will have been replenished. I certainly won't need to do any watering for a couple of days :happy7:.
Tricia
Really cross :BangHead: :BangHead:. Have just checked the butt fed from the house roof only to find that the feed from the gutter connection was blocked. I've managed to clear it, but got pretty wet in the process. Tis still raining so the butt is now gradually filling, thank heaven!
rain was forecast for today first time for weeks but as normal thunder all around us but clacton on sea no rain so its back to the plot this evening to water AGAIN :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Rain this morning, nothing heavy, it was mostly steady light rain for a few hours. When the sun came out it was within seconds of the rain stopping, black cloud mass one side of the sky, blue skies the other!
Was it six drops or maybe seven? Actually I think it was only four. Rain radar showed it was raining, but nothing arrived on the ground. Everything still as dry as a bone.
Quite windy now and just grey.
Watering is becoming quite a chore.
Here comes the sun
Did anyone see silent lightning Wednesday night? There was a big black cloud a few miles away and we watched lightning playing around it for ages, lighting up sections of the cloud, with bolts of lightning moving from one section to another. Beautiful to watch, but it was very weird that there was no thunder to accompany it.
Hot here all week, a smidgen of rain yesterday but the Sun soon dried that up, 26 oc forcast tommorrow. :sunny: :glasses9:
Another hot day the courgette plants are starting to get very excited.
Washed three duvets this week.
A very hot Sunny day yesterday :sunny:
A dull dreary one this morning with steady rain at the moment. :coffee2:
clacton -on-sea been raining since 9am and just stopped 14.22 yippeee :blob7: :blob7: :blob7: :blob7: :blob7:
It stopped raining and I went to the lottie and the Sun was out for a good few hours, clouded over now though. I have a couple of mates living in Claccie Johhny, do you know the bayside dinner along the front where the train goes along. :happy7:
Gorgeous sunny day yesterday, lovely and warm and just a light breeze.
Today it feels a bit cooler and very autumnal. Lots of sunshine but a few clouds about.

A lovely 6 or 7 days of Sunshine :sunny:
Spent last weekend in Yarmouth which was equally Sunny :sunny:
Next time your down there Johhny mention Kevin from Enfield, you might get a discount......or thrown out
The guy who owns it is a mate who comes from Enfield.
It's been a lovely week or so of sunshine...
A bit of a shake to wake up to a wet and very windy morning, leaves strewn across the lawn, very autumny.

Same here - and so dark! lights on indoors :BangHead:
A lovely warm Sunny day Sunday :sunny:
What a contrast today wet, dark and miserable. :coffee2:
Funny that Kev it is raining here in not so sunny Enfield. At least I did some housework.
Rain here up north, too!
Rainy night, rainy this morning, wind has dropped.
A dull last five days with a shower here and there. :coffee2:
8 am today found the sunshine draped in mist and it didnt clear all day
A couple of Foggy days followed by rain and more rain.
So warm here the bedroom windows are open at night and the central heating has not kicked in for 3 days. But murky and damp, plus the gritty air is making my eyes itch.
If it doesn't stop raining down here soon we are going to need an Ark. Can't even remember the last day without rain.
Blazing sunshine, brisk breeze, all the windows open to air the house out and washing flapping on the line, we will pay for it later.
A light snow covering when I awoke Sunday morning. :sunny:
Snowed heavily here on Friday and again on Saturday. Dancing and gardening cancelled. Mostly sunny yesterday but cold.
This morning we had no new snow but temps at -12C so, while the road is clear, the garden is crispy and we are keeping off except for trips to the bird feeders with fresh supplies.
wow here on englands sunshine coast last 2 days have been non stop sunshine and around 3 degrees and zero to -1 at night
-4.4c here. C o l d.
last night in my greenhouse -2.7 thats cold for the coast
Reporting -5.1 C 06.00 this morning, courtesy crondallweather.co.uk
A tad wet in Nott's .
Today in Rochford it is very overcast and extremely windy. Took advantage and have sown a few seeds
I've got 5 days off and the weather in Notts .........cr@p!
Storm Imogen just hit us so no digging today?
Cannot even stand up outside
It's like me Granddads bum in Notts this evening.............wet n windy!!!!
Brought the rendering off one side of son's house. Dreading the damage that will greet us at the lottie. If theres any glass in the green house I will be very surprised. Its a windy site at the best of times. With such a mild end to last year, new we would get pay back.
Weather better today in Enfield, so time for a quick visit to the allotment.
Because of being surrounded by the sea we don't see a big frost very often, but there is a real white one out there today. Very pleased I managed to turn the allotment over this last couple of days. All the weeds I missed will be zapped, There were also loads of slugs and snails about so they have paid the price for coming out early along with any bugs and earie wigs.
Positively spring like today, bees buzzing and a lone tortoiseshell butterfly.
Here in BC Canada, we have our second non raining day for ages so everywhere we can hear the sound of lawn mowers etc for the first time this year..
XX Jeannine
Ice cold NE wind - barely reached 8C, dull overcast all day. No sun forecast for tomorrow either!
Tricia
Grey.
Beautiful and sunny, my ideal temperature, OK in shirt sleeves but not so hot that I am flagging, it has been almost a week now,
XX Jeannine
Lovely and Sunny earlier but darkening over with a few showers now. :tongue3:
I'm putting stuff like some of the annual flowers, chard, spring onions, Leeks and shallots outside to harden off now as the greenhouse is filling up with tender plants. The peppers and chillies are in middle size pots, I potted on the watermelon plants and cucumbers this afternoon so all indoor space is in use now. I'm going to do some more sowing tomorrow.....
Yesterday OH sat outside and ate our lunch in the sunshine. He was gardening and I was, unfortunately, stuck indoors the prep work for repainting our kitchen and hall. Today started O, same division of labour, but is now grey and damp - what I call drismal - so lunch indoors. Best crack on so I'm done by the weekend and can get outside where I really want to be, with my plants and the veggie plot.
Good luck to anyone hardening off babies to make way for tender plants. Lovely job all that juggling for space and anticipating tasty crops.
Lovely Sunny day yesterday until the rain came after 4ish :sunny:
Piddling it down all day today. :BangHead:
Heavy rain here since yesterday, a few gaps in the rain so managed to nip out and take the watering cans from under the greenhouse down spouts and water everything in the greenhouse. Watering cans empty were put back till tomorrow :) So far no damage here though.
A fine Sunny day here today. :glasses9: :sunny:
Beautiful day here in Yorkshire- even got hubby down to the allotment! The soil is still pretty wet in places , but got the potatoes in today. :happy7:
Really nice now. But quite a white out first thing.
Lovely day here we focused on getting the pond setup and it took the entire day !!
Emptied the water and connected hose for pump and then filled it 750ltrs and placed plants onto shelves.
We then painted (wood protector) the lid for the pump and we lined the underneath with some foam strips which will help with keeping water out. And we then tried to support to waterfall and seal the hole we made in the wood for the pipes to come through. Still need some more flat rocks as the bricks we have used might not put up with poor weather.
I picked up more soil and thats about the only gardening thing i have managed today :( however off tomorrow and peas soaking from saturday can be planted tomorrow :) i have gardener coming to do some of the heavy jobs in front garden tomorrow so thats another job i can tick off my list :)
A real mixture so far grey skies with showers of rain, hail or sleety - snow.
Come on spring where are you!
back to winter today. 10 deg C and North wind. Plants don't know what to do
22C, clouding over now after a lovely sunny morning here in the south west. A bit breezy though and much cooler weather forecast for tomorrow.
Tricia
Cold, windy, wet- horrible! :BangHead:
its been a horrible day here on the sunshine coast only had 2 hrs on the plots rain wind and cold :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Yes, cold, windy, wet, almost squelchy, max temp 10C - grim. Worked a bit in the greenhouse, got a little bit wet More like 2 minutes, not 2 hours Johhny ;)
We have had quite a pleasant day with some sunny periods but have had rain since late afternoon and still coming down now - Poole living up to it's name. Hope Tricia can organise some fine weather when we go to Devon later in the year.
Woke up 5am which is unusual for me. Had a free day so had decided last night to make sandwiches and coffee and a day attacking the weeds at the allotment. Terrible wind and rain here today so did some washing up and watced depressing tv and knitting, bored by 8am. Disappointing day but with all the rain maybe some of my seeds will grow.
Strange weather, t shirts one day and winter coat, wooly hat snd gloves todsy, even cat depressed.

I sympathise - honestly! there are more benign days in February! And it is quite a bit colder than the weather people say too I keep checking my thermometer and the puddles and ................ another day of cold and rainy and very windy too! There is so much I should do in the garden, would this please stop! :BangHead:
Sorry, moan over, just had to get this off my chest
I am cold. Hat, scarf fleece, hot water bottle. Central heating. Brrrr
it was a cold day here on the sunshine coast but it didnt stop the bees on my lupins having a good feed
It is hot, far too hot, I was trying to tie up the tomatoes in the greenhouse and it was like being in a sauna even with the fan on. I gues the tomatoes like though.XX Jeannne
Very hot and Sunny today after a few days of heavy rain. :sunny:
23C and sunny yesterday - only 15C today because sea fog hung over the bay all day :BangHead:. Hope it clears tomorrow for the start of the first Torbay Air Show!
Tricia
A glum looking day today. :coffee2:
Warm and sunny here in North Yorkshire, after a very wet day yesterday. :happy7:
Steady rain here in Derby.......is it ever going to be dry enough to hoe!!!
It rained all day yesterday and it's still raining after a low of 15C overnight. Just received full Smith Alert.
Tricia
Pretty foul! What has happened to summer? :BangHead:
here on the sunshine coast well its been ...................................... wet very very very very wet popped over at 1 oclock its put at least 300 ltrs in my 1000 ltr tank its overflowing so around an 1" id say this morning alone :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Heavy rain this morning but sunshine and blue sky now here in North Yorkshire. Kids are off to Glastonbury this week- sounds like it's waterlogged already!
3:30pm sun just come out to play and so have the chickens
midnight-6.00 am 23/6:
33.6mm rain at CRONDALL
Anybody got a spare water butt ?
here on the sunshine coast its more like the rain coast daughter sick at mo so havent ventured down the plot so far to have a look however i am seriously considering building an arc lol
Yesterday we had a nice sunrise (woke up quite early), then rain all day, then at around seven the sun came out for half an hour. Weather forecast said dry all day and thunderstorms in the evening - well how wrong was that. :BangHead:
Cloudy and drizzly now, hope it will dry up. Need better weather as there is a long list of jobs to do and the plants certainly need better weather.
Hope your daughter is better Johhnyco!

The sky last night, and then thunder and lightning. Not sure what the weather is going to do today, but pleased I picked my strawberries yesterday.
ok just had a quick look over the plot well we had over an inch last night i have a water butt on my small lean too green house it never get full normally can just about get a can full out of it today it was overflowing here is a old pic of said greenhouse
update the thunder storms have reappeared as i write this the rain is lashing down
Just finished watering the plot and down came the rain- but only a short, sharp shower, not enough to fill the butts!
Bright Sunny day with some cloud that's getting heavy now. :sunny:
Just seen the 30 day forecast for July.
I hope you've all enjoyed the last couple of days as they might be the best of the month!!!
I don't know how they do a 30 day forecast, when they don't know what's happening from one day to the next. :tongue3:
Use a good forecasting service instead of all the crap ones that are around.
Whats the weather tomorrow for EN8 and I'll report in how acurate it is. :drunken_smilie:
Sunny periods with 12% chance of rain between 4 and 10 a.m. Wind from West moving to NW by mid-afternoon. Max temp 21C around 4 pm.
Overnight low of 6.5deg C, (Crondall NE Hampshire)

Apart from wind direction, I would have thought that was pretty accurate!
Went to Bosham, West Sussex yesterday to look at a caravan and got stuck in a pub on Hayling Island as the rain was torrential, but as OH driving he couldn't drink. The sun came out whilst we were stuck on the M25 for about an hour. I hate the M25, always get delays. Think we picked the worst day to go to the coast.
A miracle has happened in Kent we have sunshine without rain or horrible winds...I'm off to my allotment while it lasts
30 days to mid-Aug don't look great.
http://www.gavsweathervids.com/terryscholey.html
Check this out for the most reliable 30 day forecast available.
well im just off to the plot and its a fantastic morning here on the sunshine coast no rain apart from odd light shower for 3 weeks and no sign of any for a while so i have arms like popeye pumping water by hand around 30 watering cans a day and at 15 pumps to the can well you do the maths (note the english its not math) so fellow a4a members have a great weekend on your plot and spare a thought for me its like its a knockout around the pumps cans wheelbarrows buckets water water everywhere and not a drop to drink have a great day
Hot, hot, hot all weekend. :glasses9: :sunny:
Hot and windy in sunny enfield.
Same here in Northants. That hot wind was quite moythersome. Felt shattered mid-afternoon. Well maybe carrying 40 plus watering cans down the garden had something to do with it as well.
Predictable weather here, cool, wet and windy - again.
Well we had our first glancing blow with frost. The min/max thermometer said 3.7C a couple of nights ago, but 2 courgette plants have turned to mush. Nothing else so far. Fingers crossed I have some late beans flowering and the runner beans have developed another flush of flowers too, would be nice to get a late harvest there. The Achocha have only just started this year and I am looking at several squashes that are still only half sized. Anybody else had any damage?
Hi Galina a week ago I had to pull up all my squash plants as a very cold snap had killed them off. I have quite a few butternuts that have hard skins but they are small...still at least they are edible & do have decent seeds in them but it would have been nice for them to get a bit bigger. The cold grey start to the Summer here really delayed the growth of my squash plants as they only grew in 3 months what they would have done in weeks had there been any proper daylight. Sunshine only really started here in mid July.
its been sunny dry and around 18 degrees today nightime temps around 12
68 degrees here on the sunshine coast today fantastic sunny day no wind just wonderful autumn sunshine long may it continue :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
another lovely autumn day here on the sunshine coast 68 degrees again and no wind a perfect day for allotmenteering
Are you taking the temperature inside the oven, or just the greenhouse?
It has been a beautiful warm sunny day here in South Yorkshire hope it continues
Bright crisp start to the day with hard frost forecast for tonight so quite a bit of fleece to put out at my plot today
Bloomin' freezing! Two hours on the plot pruning back the grape vines and weeding and my (admittedly bare) hands couldn't take any more - it's definitely not summer any more!

well today was a little chilli here on the sunshine coast spent all day at the plot and had a jumper on first time this year so yes winter is on the way

You can say that! -2.8C according to the min/max thermometer, all the roofs very white, need to scrape the car. Now still below zero, but sunshine and blue skies with only a few fluffy clouds. Winter has arrived with a bang! :sunny:
we had our second frost in two days here on the sunshine coast so far we have had 3 frosts in total so far compared to last year its been a harsh winter so far
Frost has stayed all day here in Yorkshire. A nice walk around Nunnington and when we got to the pub we had frost in our hair!
-5 at East Midlands Airport at 06.00 and everything still white at 14.00.
Freezing fog for most of yesterday & thick fog today - I've gone into hibernation!!!
a little snow here on the sunshine coast today
however i still went to the plot :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Tying things down in case they blow away, protecting the broadies against any snow damage, checking the 4 x4 in case we have to go out. But nothing happened, cold yes but calm and sunny. Still better to be prepared. I see they are trying to say there was a bit of overkill on the East Coast preventative measures, but I bet they would be shouting louder if it did go pear shaped and nothing was done.

couldnt agree more ace it was very windy here yesterday afternoon went to the plot this morning no damage my anti leaf curl tent was a little disturbed however every thing else was fine i think down the coast at jaywick it came within 2ft of the wall if it had been a north east wind rather than a north westerly it would have breached but better safe than sorry i say anyway its what we pay council tax for and income tax vat and allthe other taxes the uk govement enforce by stealth
Now that was cold! I kept the dogs in last night, their bed in the porch was just a bit too cold. Foghorns are blaring away in the solent, feels like I am living up north.
Very cold over night, woke up cold to get another bedcover on and this morning, I can't get in the greenhouse to read the min/max thermometer cos the door is frozen solid :(
We had -6.4C a few nights ago, but I think it was colder last night, even the cat doesn't want to go out :D
-5.7 this morning here on the sunshine coast fog hardly lifted so far today
Rain at last. After weeks of drought no watering required!
Sunny but with a cool breeze in Notts, perfect day for a spot of digging....but not for me ...off to work.
Bit of a misty morning in Notts.
Tad wet in Notts today!
Wet, soggy and squelchy in SW Wales, one for the ducks!
What a difference a day makes sunny blue sky's in Notts.
Going to be a lovely day here.. but a hard frost last night, after the sunny day Froglegs refers to... long half day on the allotment in mind..
Just finished work ,had to scrape the car!!!
Wasn't as cold as the night before... had to scrape yesterday, but not this morning... 2.5c at 7 am.
No surprise, very wet and windy overnight, a welcome hour or so of sunshine this morning and then back to heavy rain, winds picking up again.
I hope everyone is ok where they are.
As it's raining in Notts...coffee and a good book me thinks.
Hi Ya, We have had so many spells of weather from frost, rain winds etc. today we have heavy fog early this morning and it surprised me how many are driving with no lights on. Its starting to clear a bit now. Still very overcast and more rain forecast for later. The British weather you can't wack it.
Getting stir crazy now... just a solid couple of hours without rain and drizzle, so I can get out on the lottie would help. It was nice Sunday afternoon but OH insisted we spent it tidying up MIL's garden... a very sheltered spot with high brick wall. Still picking Gladioli, but they did go in very late...
Well it did get bright for a while yesterday but I lost most of it chasing around for MIL at the Drs and Pharmacy... did get out onto lotties though for an hour or so.... normal service of heavy rain has resumed this morning !
Dry but bitterly cold here, should give the bugs and earywigs a bit of a shock. Snow on Dartmoor and in Wiltshire. Too close for comfort.
Hi Ya, Started raining early hours and gave us over 1/2". A lot in one go for our area. I feel sorry for those in Lincolnshire etc. It must be a nightmare for them.
Still raining... do you know any good boat builders?
Quote from: saddad on November 14, 2019, 13:40:19
do you know any good boat builders?
Have a word with Noah
I think he's too busy for my commission....
Took OH best part of three hours to get home last night as flooding had closed the A38N at Burton... drier this morning but I have to get MIL to York for a Crem at 1pm (not hers!) so should get to see some flooding en route, but not have to drive through it. Raining here ATM but it doesn't really mean it...
It's actually a nice day here on the capital - The Sun is up and I am off to rebuild compost heaps..
Day off and it's raining yet again.....
Snap....
Sods law....back at work today and the sun is shining!!!!!
Warm and sunny. Compost heaps sorted, picked loads of stuff for soup. Strimmed all my paths and started sorting the shed but got hungry so came home for breakfast and then strimmed the orchard. Filthy dirty now covered in damp grass cuttings and rotten apple bits. S'pose I had better have a brush down before she comes home.
Warm? Hardly but sunny... and dry so got some stuff done.
Now this is cold, even the postman has left his shorts at home and I spotted a brass monkey looking for a welder. The type of November frost I remember from 60 years ago when we had four regular seasons.
Not to bad here.. a touch of frost this morning but it has stayed dry.
Damp, but with some bright periods. Last weekend they were promising a week of rain, and it has been the driest week for ages. No doubt the weekend will be dreadful!
The start of my well earned 5days off and it's raining in soggy Notts
and Derby....
Frosty start but dry and bright... got down the lottie, a lot of standing water so contented self with a bit of harvesting and cutting back overgrown stuff...
Another frosty start, but brilliant blue sky that goes with it... and no rain (other forms of precipitation are available) so might get out later once the frost has melted.
Lovely day here in London too - cold but bright and clear. Time to do some tidying up in the garden - the plot is still a bit slippery to do much.
Another brilliant blue sky.. dry start to the day, not as cold, no frost to scrape off OH's car this morning.
A bright and dry weekend... wasted (from a gardening point of view) spent the weekend driving around the North of England gathering relatives for the funeral. No doubt the first named storm currently battering Western Ireland will land here soon and keep me off the lotties for the rest of the week.
A really miserable day today.. windy and rain all day, driving my sister and her husband back to Wigan and home again... but at least it was a glorious day yesterday for the funeral.
A reasonably good day to be out on the lottie... tidied up some of the greenhouses, mainly to make room to "paint" the pallet toppers I have had in drying out ready for filling with the spent compost ready for the early roots...
Ha a celebratory beer in the big greenhouse.. and of course some harvesting.. parsnips, leeks, sprouts celeriac, swede, carrots... yum!
Tidying up shed, boring. No beer or wine either, which is just as well as it is so slippery underfoot. :BangHead:
Lovely day up here in Dundee , got some weeding done this morning on lottie.
Not light enough to assess yet... OH has left me a lot of non-gardening jobs but if the sun shines who knows...
Got out this afternoon for a couple of hours, mainly to tidy up from our "private" firework display and some trees and weeds that a tenant had cut down to tidy his neglected plot and left in the adjoining communal area....
Force 8 winds again. I still say these winds where not as strong until they started giving the storms their own names.
Hope it has blown over now ACE, much calmer here this morning...

Force 8 winds again. I still say these winds where not as strong until they started giving the storms their own names.
You have got a point there, because winds are stronger now than they have been, they started naming storm lows. Doesn't make us feel any better about them though. :BangHead:
calmed a bit this morning, but 85 mph last night. It shook the house a bit. Southerly so it should not be too bad at the plot which is protected by a tall copse.
Bright, beautiful and still here today.. ideal for the allotments, if you bring a boat!
Hope things get back to normal soon ACE.
Looks like a decent frost on the way. The really wet winter has flattened my rough dug plot and it is too wet to get it done again so the frost will not be breaking up the ground and getting rid of the critters this year.
Record high pressure, cold but very bright. Making my ears are pop.
Playing havoc with my sinuses too....
Stratocumulus I believe yesterday caused by the high pressure
Lovely picture ACE, milder here today didn't need to scrape off OH (her car! Not her) this morning.
Lovely cold crisp start to the day here in London - ice and frost everywhere but the sun is up now and the ice is sublimating and you can feel the heat of the sun.
I feel like I should plant something.
Damp and gloomy day in Notts.........
and the weather isn't much better.....
similar in Derby... but as a Burnley fan it is a glorious day... beating Man U at Old Trafford... last happened when I was 14 months old..
Well I thought I'd posted that it was a glorious morning, earlier, and it was, but got rained off about two and my internet was obviously playing up again...
Absolutely ghastly here today - no doubt it will cheer up in time for me to get back to work on Wednesday..
It started cold and sunny this morning but by 10.30 it was snowing which only lasted about half hour and dry ever since here in Sth Yorks
Being a bit further South that half an hour's snow was just sleet here. A similar day will be good enough... have a skip coming for a site tidying party this morning...
6C and sunny here in Torbay after a day of heavy showers yesterday.
Tricia
The skip arrived just after 8:00 and despite threatening to rain several times I have just come in, bad light stops play!
Well, we got on well yesterday but still have things to do, dry out at the moment but rain forecast for later today.. hope it stays away.
Managed to get out both days over the weekend... despite the forecast of heavy rain which didn't arrive... looking good outside now it has got light..
Here we go again, wheelie bins collecting at the bottom of the close and it has not reached full strength yet.
97 mph Kinell!
That's only 60mph.
Don't mean to sound unsympathetic but we have that speed forecast till 10am tomorrow.
Parts of the UK have it far worse with floods, uprooted trees, damage to buildings including a windmill that's lost its hat and sails and people trapped in cars under fallen trees.
Belgians have far greater speeds and have been advised not to go outdoors or travel unless absolutely necessary. Northern France is also living in "interesting times" today and tomorrow.
Ciara was kind enough to pop by and help me by putting a hedgehog highway in my fence, though I'm not sure she's got the proportions right...
I have just had a message to tell me my polytunnel has been wrecked. I'll have to get up there but it is hissing down this afternoon. It is not hindering anybodys plot so no rush.
Sorry to hear about the tunnel ACE went on a tour this morning.. lost a pane of glass, mate lost a poly carbonate panel... but I found it. Started snowing at 2pm and lost road surfaces already.
Not been down the plot yet , the plan is to go tomorrow .......so fingers crossed, white over in part of Notts.
Ciara is causing havoc well into mainland Europe now and weather forecasters seem to think there will be 2 or 3 more such storms over the next couple of weeks.
Been out all day and dark when I got in so have to hope our polytunnel is OK.
Good luck with all your PTs, greenhouses and cold frames and fences..
Calm and clear here this morning, snow virtually gone, should get time to tidy things up. If they are promising us three or more such storms I'd expect idyllic weather for the rest of the month!
Wet and windy today but a tornado ripped through the town last night causing quite a bit of damage to properties. All safe in our little close, and I don't have a poly to worry about.
Looked indifferent all morning but stayed dry this afternoon as I cut back a Montana which had climbed up the house and was making an escape bid across the road via the telephone wires... didn't want to be responsible for cutting off the 'phones... in the strong winds. Managed to not "cut" myself off literally as I did last time..........
Hi Ya, The weather here is calm at the moment, I bet I wish I never said that, There is rain forecast for later and storm Dennis over the weekend. I may spread some compost about or wait. If we have another blow like last weekend then why tidy up. I have heard also that another storm is on the cards for next week end as well. I know it's only February but last year it was snow that hit. Still heads up and batten down the good weather will arrive eventually. Happy gardening all
Wind is picking up again here... will be in London over the weekend so have just done a tour to check things are "in place" and held down.
Starting to get webbed feet and have lost two hats.
Been breezy and dry most of the day but have had thunder and lightning and torrential rain about 30 mins ago I will be glad when February is over
Hi Ya, Watching the news and my heart goes out to those affected. It has been windy here and just 1/2"of rain. Watching the cars get floated away is terrible. I feel they have got to stop the building as the water has no where to go. They are building round us like crazy and don't care about the environment. It's not for my generation but our grandchildren though they will grow up and it will be the norm as they don't know any different. I find it soul destroying.
I've seen some absolute devastation on some plots via a Facebook group. Enough to make you want to pack it all in...
Hi Ya, Oh my word that is horrific. Is that your plot? where are the plots? Was that wind or water or a mix of both? I hope all are not to broken hearted and they manage to clean up and get going again. We have suffered damage but mainly those with greenhouses. One lady has had her insect hotel trashed. Compost bins and lids blown around but nothing like the pictures you have posted. Good luck all and hope you overcome the disaster.
Not my plots - just a site in Pontypridd. Damage is wind and water so I guess the ground could even be contaminated with sewage...
That is devastating damage. Hope the plot holders get help and funds to get on their feet again. It would be so understandable if some just want to give up after this
That certainly looks dreadful... back from London and apart from localised flooding we seem to be OK... informed a plotholder that he had lost his roofing felt after Ciara... but had done nothing by Friday hate to think what the shed looks like now after Dennis.
Wow as it turned cold today......rain.....sleet.... and a chilled wind in Nott's
Well it's cold out in the wind... but brighter than it has been for days... may get out later, it was the Derby Winter Beer Fest last night....
when is this wind and rain going to bugger off????
Not in the next 16 days !
See :
https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/forecast/uk/GU9
Situation normal, wet and windy
Got out nice here eventually... went to an NGS open day to see snowdrops and hellebores, which was nice even if half of the garden was under water... then a couple of hours on the lottie, despite standing water yesterday some was quite diggable.
Grey, wet and miserable... and the weather's not much better!
Still wet
Looks promising, that rare thing a dry day....
Bright sunny dry if a tad cold perfect for a spot of allotment pottering .....but unfortunately one as work !
Got up to a blizzard this morning the snow has abated but the rain persists (I think that's the word I am looking for) :glasses9:
It's persisting it down again...
Bright start to Ash Wednesday now, after some sleet and rain about 6:30 am, don't expect it will last though!
We had snow in Notts just after midnight but soon turned to rain as I was traveling home about one'ish ,today we've a bright chilly morning but black o'eur mutheur's ...
Lovely morning here today....
Overcast, wet, cold, miserable in N E Hampshire. At least the wind has dropped. Looks better forecast from 08/03........
Sleet, dark, cold and generally really miserable here in London. Certainly not weather to put you in the mood for sowing seeds...
Bright sunny spring like morning
Got a bit done in the greenhouse and planted up a couple of planters (Previous stuff drowned)! I wonder why?
A bit chilly but the suns out, fingers crossed we get the same tomorrow ....day off.
Back in after a couple of productive hours on the lottie... lifted some more parsnips to soup and prep.. got some pallet toppers painted, despite a slight shower managed a natter with a couple of plotholders..
Fingers crossed for tomorrow...
Bitter nw wind, but bright sunshine all day. Heavy rain and gale force winds forecast for tomorrow and Saturday - so back to normal!
Tricia
Well the wind has dropped here, and it's not raining. Not quite light enough to decide if it's going to be good day but the weekend forecast is poor... same old same old...
Wet but warmer, trampoliner due this weekend again.
RAIN!!!!
hohr-heh???? Didn't we leave the EU, should have been storm Ellen, something we can pronounce.
Turned to snow and sleet here and in Stoke... personally I don't care what they call it, I'm not inviting it in for tea... as long as it hurries on it's way so I can get on with Spring...
Still raining!!!!!
I know some of you have had it bad, but since the clocks went back we have had 90 days of rain down here.
Woke up to rain and a hangover after a night putting the world to rights.....
We woke up to howling winds and heavy sleet. It has calmed down a bit now but is expected to be very bad later on today and all tomorrow. Half of France is on a yellow weather warning and another quarter over to the east is orange for really strong winds. Set to be really bad in Ireland and Scotland again this weekend and, no doubt, yet more rain for the Severn catchment area.
Desperate for all those already flooded and for those praying their banks and flood barriers will hold. Much easier to sort out a lottie than a home after flooding but still terrible.
Hi Ya, Well the weather has improved slightly today No rain, sun is shining but with a very stiff lazy wind. It's a lazy wind as it won't go round but straight though you. Had to pack it in after an hour. I am on tablets that don't help. Never mind it's still an improvement.
nice morning ,but now I've got the chance of a few hours in the garden it bloody rains......sods law!!!!
Similar here Froglegs, we keep dodging heavy but short duration showers.
Sunshine till eleven a.m. followed by short but very frequent heavy downpours.

Or as my grandfather would have said
"Tha's jus' tew lazy t'go round, an' so that go clean threw yer!"
Resident in Bramfield till 1953
Mild frost but a bright start with less wind... hopefully get out on the allotment, once I find the Kayak.....
Lovely day yesterday in London - got the poly cleared out and found a chilli from last year hanging on to life.
Today looks a bit drab but ok to do some work in.
Weather today in Essex hasn't been too bad. Had a couple of hours on the plot before it started to rain. Hopefully tomorrow may give a few more hours as it is now time for serious allotmenting.
Started well, but soon turned to drizzle, so didn't get much done... fingers crossed for tomorrow, chippings coming at 8:00 am...
As expected, dry start, sunny but slight frost.
marvelous morning, a tad windy but warm enough to leave the jacket off. Dug over a fair old bit before I ran out of puff. Then just after I got home hailstones and squalls with enough sun in between to dry them up.
Similar here yesterday, and looks like we are set for the same. The central heating failed on Monday, water coming through the ceilings, have got the water back on, but not the heating.. despite having a "policy" with a well known company who came out and checked the boiler but decided it was the "system" and so not their problem... must be getting soft in my old age as it isn't particularly cold but I'm missing it.. it was only Feb '19 we were out sunbathing in a heatwave..
I turn down the thermostat to zero most mornings as we have a couple of hounds that like to go in and out first thing to do what they have to do. It is pointless having heating on with doors wide open. Went to turn it down this morning and noticed I did not turn it up again last night. Didn't feel cold though. But another fine morning today, I'll wait until the roads are clear of workers then hopefully get on with some more digging.
Well after an indifferent weekend the sun is shining so we are going out to play on the lottie!
Hot and blazing sun, air conditioning on,but tomorrow is forecasting lower temps and rain...usual pattern here
We had a great week, last week, dry, sunny and warm... even had members sunbathing! Back to cold, overcast with some drizzle...
Dare I say it, but I need a drop of rain, getting a bit dusty on the plot. Just overnight mind you.
Hot by day ,clod at night...and I left a tray of seedlngd out

Same for me, please.
Thunderstorm on Dartmoor this PM (www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar),
rather have a steady 1/2", that would be nice. Fingers crossed.
Glorious here today.... again.... a bit of rain overnight would be nice!
Hot here in Wales with one heavy but quick shower. Quite humid too. The weeds are loving it!
Cooler now, but still clear and bright,,, didn't get any rain over the weekend, although we heard the thunder storms.
No rain in NE Hampshire either, storms were away to the North (Heathrow) .Temperature soaring to 9deg C, from an overnight low of -3. Bright and beautiful. One more coffee and out I go!
Well I've got what was required, 15mm so far, but have had to wait a week to get it.Bit like the post at the moment. Looks as if its going to remain coolish, that will let the rain just soak in nicely. Planting in earnest as the frost risk recedes. Just got to hope theres not a sting in the tail!
Damp and cold in Notts
Same here in Derby... but not enough rain yet to make the heavy clay workable............
Almost a foot of snow..my Cihuahuas poop out of sight with just ther heads showing.. I had garden man clear andarea down to the grass now.
Frosty here first thing, bright but cold now, has been windy overnight some things blown over on the lotties.
Just got back with the dogs cold & frost the only thing that gets me through it is coming back for a cup of Tea
Wild, wet and windy 86mph. I bet the poly is now a paraglider. Not going to find out soon, you can tell why they call them souwesters.
Fingers crossed for all polytunnels through this wild night. Think my cover is five years old. Hoping for another year or two but ......?
Was windy overnight, but nothing like that ACE. Now bright and still, wonderful Winter weather..
Reported 108 mph at the Needles, 12 miles away. But poly still standing although there was one on another plot that went down and the big dalek lid swop will be later this week.
Couldn't match that, but enough snow to make snowmen in Stoke this morning! :sunny:
Got some snow, but not enough to make a snowman... nearly gone again now!
Cold, cold, cold, the last time I felt this cold was up on the Artic patrols. My fingers are numb and I am indoors dressed like Nanook of the north. Not going to the plot this morning, I'll use some of the freezer reserves if I can get it to thaw out.
About two-three inches of the white stuff here near Oxford. I think I'll pass on visiting the allotment today - luckily I'm mostly doing half-days at work at the mo, and I don't need a very big diversion to stop off on the way home.
Only started here about an hour ago, but we have already lost the road surface. My lad is in Botley, but he said it all had melted by mid-day. Hope your allotments aren't those we see when we walk into Oxford... they seem to be regularly flooded!
No snow here, but I can see the white hills over on the north island.
We got six inches by the time it stopped @6pm. With the cold night it is still fairly treacherous out the there. The weekly shop will have to wait until mid-day, or tomorrow if it doesn't recede. We are on a gritted bus route but still only have tracks through to the tarmac rather than a proper two car passing surface.

Mine is on Wolvercote Common (aka top end of Port Meadow) - far emough up the meadow to not flood too often, and not too badly! Though funnily enough I'm pretty sure our next door neighbours have one down off Botley Road.
Saw those two summers ago when we walked up Port Meadow and back through Jericho, we didn't go to Oxford last Summer for some reason....
All the snow rained away today, lotties a bit of standing water... warm enough.
wet...damp and horrible in Notts
Wet.... damp and horrible in Torbay! :tongue3:

It's a small world! Since then we've gained a waiting list - for the first time in at least 15 years - so hopefully more plots cultivated, though I will miss snacking on the bramble patches.
Dry but cloudy... but large areas of the site with standing and flowing water....
Has been quite pleasant here in Poole, a bit cloudy at times but dry and better today than it has been
Sunny and 11C briefly over midday but very windy.
Tricia
Cold and overcast here today
Heavy rain and strong blustery winds. I've put off the Bird Watch till tomorrow!
Tricia
I think today can be fairly described as "Shite!". Rain, sleet, snow, bitter cold, all falling on ground already saturated. I see flooding ahead....
I've put off the Bird Watch till tomorrow!
Ooh! thanks for the reminder...
I had to drive my OH for his vaccination today. A 30 mile round trip. There is a lot of water about. Quite often had to go into the centre of the road to avoid huge puddles.
The fields are very wet, and in several places really muddy water was cascading off fields onto the road.
The water table is high too. This is good because it means that the well water we use on the allotments will top up faster during the summer.
But the soil sure is soggy. And the nutrients will have been leeching out of the soil.
Dry bright and sunny today, not even windy!
Lottie time!
Not raining now but very cold....
Bit of a heatwave here, got up to 13C until rain stopped play and it deluged.
We had a downpour too but looking promising outside now.
Blustery winds, the sky various shades of grey - but at least it's dry and mild (10C).
Tricia
Another cold start, scraping off OH's car, but promising to be dry....
No frost this morning, dry and dull so far.
Brilliant blue skies warmed my living room to 26C this morning, only to cloud over by 11am - it's back to heavy showers again already.
Tricia
This is what my plot looks like, and what I have to cross to get to it. You do get used to it, it happens every few years. It'f fine in winter, you'd be surprised at what will happily stand with wet feet if it isn't actively growing.
(spheroids - just pretend you are looking on a phone and rotate the screen 90 degrees!)
Cold with a high of 5C and very brief sunny spells.
Tricia
Blimey! A snow storm last night.
Cold with snow flurries here today, but not enough to get excited about... lot of surface water still.
Great looking start today :sunny:
Am going to check the olives and other tender plants a -5 to-10 C predicted over the next few nights and fleece where possible.
Yesterday the icy wind was horrible, trees looked like a hurricane was blowing - I feared for my bird feeder station where the feeders were swinging almost horizontally and overnight Torbay received a sprinkling of snow! The icy east wind continues to blow but at least it's brighter today and the temperature is slowly rising, it's currently + 1C. :happy7:
Tricia
It's snowing now!
It was lovely today. Blue sky and puffy clouds perhaps the odd grey one. Sunshine lighting up the edges of the clouds. It looked lovely.
Then the odd snow flake and a few dog walkers scutterling by.
It was very cold out. Thank goodness for central heating.
Another bright but cold start, cold overnight as expected. Got the Olives and pomegranates covered, but think we may have seen the last of the bananas, even in the large greenhouse!
When I used to grow bananas, I would cut down the stalk to about about 18 inches at a slant and throw an old blanket over them. Sometimes they made it back up again. But if they didn't, rootle about under ground and find the small shoots on the roots, pot them up and away you go again. Freezing again here, stiff washing on the line.
Morning ACE, I'm sure we will be able to salvage something from the bananas, they were getting to big anyway! Can't comment on the weather as it is still dark, but very cold... air so dry today that we didn't need to scrape the car off!
Well after a glorious and warm afternoon yesterday it is shaping up to be another warm and dry Spring day here. Isn't it great to get up in the light!
20c here today! Rain tomorrow. All good for growing..
Only half of that, and a chill wind, another month or so to wait here!
I think we will have to ask the Global Moderator to ban BarriedaleNick from this thread ...
Doing quite well here in Torbay, 15C after a 12C night. Sunny spells but still windy.
Tricia
A bit of light cloud, but a promising start....
Light frost, had to scrape off the car.... but only 20 more work days to go! Clear blue sky so getting out on the lotties after Popmaster!
Into 3rd warm, sunny day. My gardening help spent 3 hours yesterday cutting back the raspberry canes, cleaning the strawberry plants and generally tidying up in my small walled garden - all jobs I can't do with my right thumb still in a splint (no sign of a hospital appointment any time soon! ). Hey ho!
But the sunshine and plenty more of it in the forecast makes having to shield more bearable.
Tricia
Was a great day...
Here too! but so frustrating not to be able to get on with some of the jobs that still need to be done. :BangHead:
Tricia
21 here today!
Blossom out on the fruit trees, early spuds in the ground, peas coming up, toms and chilis coming on nicely and the ground is slowly drying out.
So much to do though so best have some brekkie and crack on..
Another great day today, not quite 21 but nice enough!
Hardly 21, but bright, dry and sunny. Had to wait in today for boiler servicing, 7am-6pm time slot... but been and done so I can get out on the lottie.... before the rain starts again tomorrow
freezing again
I think they are in the wrong order ACE... we have already had two mud springs!
I used to like to be in bed all safe, warm and cozy listening to the wind outside. Not anymore, how's the shed? How's the poly? Hope it is not as bad as it sounds, then an early morning wakeup and the weather reports of 84mph winds.
Nowhere near that bad here, ACE. Hope they are alright... will do my morning checks in an hour or so.
No point getting to the plot just yet, still blowing a hooley and as I have to cycle there it could be a bit hair raising. Somebody nearby usually pops in and sends out a group email if there are problems.
Miserably wet start here, but the wind has dropped... only flying bin lids, and stray plant pots to collect up yesterday.
Usually get the shorts and t shirts out for Easter, better put them away again for another month. minus 4 this morning.
I was out there in shorts and a sleeveless top at the end of last week ACE but I'm back to thermal ski socks, long trousers, layers and a fleece jacket this week. That wind is perishing and we've had some heavy frosts the last few mornings. Brrr.
It's beautiful here!
I have had to crank the well pump into action as they ground is drying out fast and my farmers tan is coming on a treat. It's been in the mid to high 20s all week with a bit of cold at night. It does get windy which makes cycling fun - but I have got a few 60km plus rides in. It is a great way to explore the local countryside which is stunning at the moment, sadly it will be browned off before too long.
Rain forecast for the weekend which I will be grateful for!
You can go right off some people :-P
Yes Brass Monkey weather today. More like early March than early April. Dry as a bone though as we've had virtually no rain for a couple of weeks. Weird weather!
Had plans to clean up the greenhouse ready for plants I have growing in the house in a propagator but quickly reversed those plans last week. No point in attempting to sow anything outdoors until the weather improves
Cold again this morning, but at least the snow has gone... getting dry here, not enough snow to make a difference!
