Everything has gone bonkers! Still got Welsh poppies in flower and spotted the buds on my currant bushes are just starting to open. Mind all this mildish weather is great for getting the extra winter salad to germinate & grow on a bit. I'm thinking of throwing out any gardening book now that talks of seasons...

Some of my snowdrops have flowered...but that's not unusual I've had them as early as September.

In Kent we usually see the first of the daffodils showing through the ground early November. I have around 100 varieties and would be concerned if some were not up by the end of the month. Provided the bulbs are in the ground they are perfectly hardy and should not be protected in any way. The first to flower are usually in February, hence the name February Gold.

I remember them flowering in January in Cornwall. It just depends on the local climate.

This has been happening here too, but the last few nights have been very cold here, so hopefully it will put a stop to it.
