Beautiful photograph GW!! (but a bit big) Really makes you
feel as though spring is finally here doesn't it?

Are you going to enter it into our February competition?
I, for one, think it is certainly good enough.  :D

Keep 'em coming.  :)

Here you go  :) It's a lovely photograph, and as Eileen said, I hope you will be entering
it into the competition.  Methinks there are going to be some great piccies for the next
round  :)

Lovely photo GW.  It is lovely to see something that resembles spring.  We have had so many false starts here in W/Bay.  The frogs are in the pond and then they disappear, the buds come up then they are covered in snow.  I am impatient for spring now.  None of the daffs are out here yet but I am hoping we will see some good signs soon. busy_lizzie

Hi greenwizard, thanks for the kind comment. Did you take the image with a digital camera ? Its just if you did, chances are you could take lots from different angles, pick the best one. The only reason I'm saying this is that some digital cameras have a minimum near focus point. If you came back from the main flower slightly, the main part of the focus would be on the inside of the flower. Please don't consider this a criticism its just that sometimes there is a budding David Bailey in all of us, we just need to explore the subject in a little more detail. Not just be happy with the first image, look at the subject and think of how to improve on the last photo.
When we get the images back on the computer, you just delete the ones you don't like.
But most of all, as long as you like your photo's doesn't matter what other people think. If they like them as well, that's just a bonus.
Keep clicking and remember, enjoy it!!!!

Example of what I mean. Taken on a holiday to France. Came back with approx 100 market scene images, some good some really bad. This one stood out because of all the colours and the fact no real faces. Rest went into the bin.
Hope you like, taken at Aix-En-Provence 2 years ago.

Hi again Greenwizard,
just put this together for you, hope it might help. Obviously you might not have Photoshop, but most photo manipulation packages offer the same sort of adjustments.

It's amazing what you can do.  My daughter has just joined a camera club and wants Photoshop for her birthday but on Amazon it is £497!  I wondered if the 'Elements' package would be enough to start with but I don't really know what I am looking at.  We have Microsoft Picture It Photo Standard 9 - does this do the same sort of thing?  I'm sorry this is not really a gardening question but she does take lots of lovely photos of the garden and wildlife.

Tulippa, all the above changes can be done on Elements. I think Elements 2 is the newer version.
Photoshop is a very powerfull program, still trying to come to terms with some of it after 6 years.
Elements 2 I think can be purchased for about £75 . Another option is Paint shop pro by JASC software. Much cheaper than Adobe software, but not the industry standard.
Hope this is of help to you.

Most scanners or even printers come with limited editions of Photoshop. I dare say if you asked around someone would have an old copy, probably version5 or 6 on the shelves gathering dust. Obviously some things have been upgraded but its still the basic package.

Tulippa    I've just downloaded a trial version of Adobe Photoshop Elements for free.  Don't know how long they'll let me keep it  ;D

Greenwizzard, I like your avatar.  Is it a picture that you took yourself?

Sam.
