Just read the story about 82 year old pensioner found rescued from bog in the Isle of Wight. Her dog, Monty, stayed with her and kept her warm. Hope she recovers from her ordeal. What a loyal dog.

Waiting for x-ray at local A&E the lady next to me told me a similar story. She had been walking with her labrador, miles away from anywhere, fell in a rabbit hole and broke her ankle awkwardly. The rescue was quite difficult because the ambulance took a long time getting to her and then the paramedics had a job carrying her back to the ambulance over rough terrain. The long wait was made bearable and she stopped panicking because her labrador stayed with her the whole time and tried to 'nurse' her. She was on her follow-up x-ray to check that all was ok and very proud of her loyal dog.
It is a good idea to have a mobile phone with one, but must admit I usually leave mine in the kitchen drawer. Margaret, my lovely allotment friend, often called out to me to help her up. I said she should have a mobile but said he couldn't see to use it, and had no-one to ring. Emergency services I think if you fall down. She gave up her allotment when she could no longer see. But I have trouble using mine, so at 82 poor lady probably couldn't understand the new technology. Hope she is OK, at out all night, but what a good dog. :sunny: :sunny:
