Would a blackberry cutting root in water or do I need to bung it into some soil. Many thanks for assistance.
I think that I would bend a branch down and put a brick on it, then dig up when rooted.
The wild ones spread that way so should be easy :happy7:
pumpkinlover has it spot on. This is how the blackberry or bramble spreads to new ground. The long branches eventually bend down and touch the ground, from where it touches roots form. If you peg an end down in a pot of compost, I'm sure it will root and then you can cut off the branch.

Cheers, Tony.
They root down at the tip better in the warmer months...
