Oh come on now, enough is enough already! My sister in Maidstone is snowed in, schools closed, husband unable to get into work. Here is Essex, constant snow flurries but it is the ice that is terrifying! Cars sliding around on the roads and the pavements are shining like mirrors! Number one daughter went a over t several times on the walk to school and was becoming quite artistic in her spills! How I didn't go, well, luck rather than judgement. I have had enough of this winter wonderland now thank you very much indeed. About time the sun came out and stayed out!
I agree! But this morning here it is lovely bright sunshine, so I send some to you E-J! Keep your fingers crossed it lasts until Saturday, as we have my charity plant sale at the old house. Pretty please.......... :)
i hope the weather lasts that far, CWL. i have already booked sunshine for saturday here in london ;)
want to get my fruit bushes on the weekend. pretty please too
svea
I don't remember having so much snow for 15 years!
Yesterday was a miserable day, snow, rain, sleet, hail, wind. The only thing we didn't have was sunshine! Still at least it hasn't settled (the one and only benefit of living near London!)
I am itching to get into the garden. I was all psyched up to start digging this weekend. I want to get my spuds in in two weeks and it's all clay still!
Is this ever going to end? Are we entering a new Ice Age?
Where's my directions, Lassie??
That is my problem also Aqui. Really wanted to get to the plot tomorrow and start digging my spud trenches on plot numero 2 so they could get in over the forthcoming visits, but with the ground frozen solid and covered in snow most mornings, looks like I will have to wait and see what next week brings. Oh well, I guess I should start sowing some more seeds in pots and trays :-\
Yep, pretty nasty here too, though not quite as fierce as yesterday and it doesn't sound as harsh and icy as down your way EJ.
My fingers are crossed for some decent-ish weather at the weekend so I can get some more digging done otherwise I too will just be sowing seeds in pots. I wouldn't mind, but I'm rapidly running out of room in the bathroom for them!
Reminds me of my university days -used to go straight from a lecture on global warming to one on the impending ice age. Oh, the poles are reversing too ;D Anyone remember Doomwatch?
Been about 3 or 4 inches of snow in my village this morning and I had a funeral to go to!!! Did not fancy the prospect of standing around in all that white stuff in a church yard. However, the boys from the council worked hard and cleared a super path up to the church and all the way round to the graveyard, I was most impressed. We are just back from being 5 miles down the road, and guess what? no snow anywhere. Strange, very strange. Roll on Spring.Â
I have to laugh here! Heaven knows how us Southerners would last up North if we had to! They get the most treacherous weather for the longest periods of time and they are always equipped to deal with it and just get on with it.
When a single flurry of snow appears here in the south it's pandamonium! ! !
well im a northerner and i think today is the first day in over a week we have not had any snow today its freezing fog and iceim hopeing it will break soon cos im getting bored sitting in all day i want to finish off my shed i got snowed off the other day i stuck it out for three hours hoping it may stop but it never so off i went freezing cold tools under my arm the mile or so home my hand where almost frozen by the time i got homea quick cupper and off i went to take the dog outfor his walk im not saying we are hard up here but most proberly daft as a brush roll on spring
from frustrated in somerset!!!!! we have'nt had any snow at all, just sleet. would love to go out and make a snowman!
ME TOO :'( :'( :'( no snow here in north wales either.
Loads and loads of snow here in Kent. Not got to the lottie, or even into the garden ('cept for kitchen waste to compost bin) for over a week, and have now been told school closed tomorrow and Saturday so instead of digging and planting I'll be child entertaining :( How about this though: our builders have turned up every day this week - it's an indoor job ;D
Great, bl**dy great! Ava has gone into work this morning on the motorbike on dry roads and clear skies, to be met half an hour into his journey with a snow storm, and now in this part of sunny Essex, we have thick snow on the ground! Boohoo......hope the trains run tonite so he can come home!
OMG.
Woke up to dry, no snow outside. When we left home, snow was gently falling, not much. 20 mins later when we emerged from a tube tunnel, there was white everywhere. It's coming down really fast now. Even at work (in London). I have yet to hear what it's like from Mr Aqui in Central London.
OK - so it's only a few millimeters, but we're so not used to it. And I have my slippy shoes on!
phew. what a relief. it's all melted here now. But the sky looks like there could be more on the way.
*sniff* i'll trade sunny weymouth for anyone that wants to get away from the snow.
only if you throw in your adorable kids too, nattyem ;)
We still have snow on the ground here in East Sussex, daughter just gone sledding again! (she has been off school for 3 days :-\) I still have about 6 inches on the decking, but it has gone from -3C this morning to 7C this afternoon, so everything is starting to drip!
Hubby couldn't get into work on Wednesday, had to take it easy Thursday, but I comforted him with the fact he was in my car, and it has all the allotment tools in the back, so if he needed to dig himself out he had all the equipment!
I haven't seen the forecast today, but we have blue skies at the mo, if this lot freezes over tonight, tomorrow is going to be hellish!
Hi everybody,we have a snowman who is about 8 feet high. There is 2 feet of snow on my allotment, and i want also do something out there but i cannot do sh*t.What the h*ll is wrong with the weather this year it is march for godsake. We had -20 last night,i am worring for my olivetree outside, this good be his last year. :'( :'( :'(At this moment looking outside it is snowing again, wenn does it stop????

Here's hoping....Mother Nature is a funny Ole Girl ;)
It was gorgeous in West Essex early this morning! White all over instead of just a little smittering. Pity it didn't keep snowing though. It stopped about 10am and as the temperature rose, it disappeared :'( I want more more more! ! ! I want a good old fashioned snow "shower" like we used to have when I was younger. A good four or five inches thick for at least a couple of days. Freezing temperatures and snowball fights hehehe. Only thing I didn't like was how it began to freeze over after a couple of days and send me skating! ;D
And don't believe it's gone when this bit is through.
Twenty or so years ago, we could not reach the station for daughter to train to hospital in London. Had to be dragged out of the ditch (which you couldn't see) twice by tractor.
The hospital would not believe her. Until days later when she took back photos.
It was well into APRIL!! In those days, -20 was quite common
Snow again here this morning. Poor Lassie with her sale??
I was reading in a mag today that a good day to put your spuds in is Good Friday (earlies) and mid April for maincrop so I've put a note on my calendar. I daren't put mine in too early as it's too cold oop t'north.
