Title: Mayan Gold potatoes
Post by: caroline7758 on September 23, 2012, 17:20:03
I watched GW this afternoon and liked the look of these potatoes grown at Wisley. Just wondering if anyone in the North (Yorkshire) has grown them successfully?

I grew some this year and the taste was excellent.  Not a heavy crop.  I plan to grow them next year if I can find a supplier.
I don't see being in the north should be a problem.  They come from Peru and I believe were grown high in the mountains.

Not quite as far north as you but have grown Mayan Gold and Mayan Twilight well in Derby. You don't get huge crops, but they are a bit like a more yellow Anya. Don't try and boil them though, steam, roast or chip only as they go to mush really easily...
