Title: Mr & Mrs rat.....

.....have moved into one of my compost bins,put a wire mesh on the bottom of the bin to keep them out and the buggers but have chewed through the side  :BangHead: Put down a rat trap (looks like a big mouse trap) to get the sods,it's like Arkwright's till when you set it..but up to now they'v managed to get the bait out with out setting it off  :icon_scratch: any tips on getting rid of(not poison) my guests. :help:

Not knowing what trap you use but i use Fen Traps quick and reliable, i dond use bait just lay them where the rats track.

Try mars bar moulded onto the prong. They can't get it off so easily. Otherwise, fen traps, which are triggered by the animal's weight, are more reliable.

If you keep your bin on the wet side, the rats will look for somewhere else thats warm and dry..
