Title: Green parakeets
Post by: Melbourne12 on September 06, 2012, 07:05:15
Quote from: Quentin Blake'He has green parakeets
who pick holes in his suit -

And some very fat owls
who are learning to hoot -

But Mr Magnolia
has only one boot.'

I know that they're not uncommon nowadays, but as I was sitting quietly at the allotment yesterday after I'd fed and watered the chickens, a small flock of parakeets descended on one of our apple trees.

After a minute or so they flew off - about eight of them.  It was a cloudless afternoon, and the sight of these birds against the blue sky was quite beautiful.

I'm told they can be as bad as pigeons.

We have them in abundance round here - they can be bloody noisey at times but still nice on the eyes..

I see them most days, usually early morning flying over. I have seen them on the plot, at much closer quarters, chomping my sunflowers!
They're certainly colourful, and noisy, birds.
