Title: Transporting blueberries and raspberries
Post by: davholla on September 02, 2012, 10:10:10
I am going on holiday soon and I was thinking of taking some blueberries and maybe raspberries (fruit) from my garden as my family in South America have never seen them.  Could they survive the journey?

Hmm..how long is the journey? Is it allowed by customs of that country?
Blueberries could survive as they are much firmer berry but raspberries... :-\..depends of the journey time and you would need to pack them very thinly..possibly even just single layer in container. Raspberries would need cool storage for them to able to keep their shape without collapsing under their own weight.. :-\
If you pick few ripe ones now..keep them in room temperature in kitchen and see how long does it take for them to stay in shape before deciding if they are able to travel.
