I have a large clump of crocosmia which has only produced 2 flower stems this year. It may have been disturbed when i dug up a plant next to it, but is there another cause?
I've got the same problem igot hundreds of this plant and i just can't get the itme to split them, I did take a few out last yr,put themin a new place and they had a wonderful show of flowers so I think it's the spliting up that helps.
I thought that might be the answer. I have a plan (time permitting) to move some of the planting around in my garden this year so that will be the time to do it. I saw so many lovely masses of them while on holiday this week, it was quite depressing to come home to my dismal display!
I got a lot of Crocosmia (too much!) as well in my own garden as in the walled garden. Both places did well this year and all were flowering. In my garden it is North and in the walled garden South.
During summertime I split a bit and placed it elsewhere and they did also well. Both places have a base of riverclay. Maybe thats the trick?
