Was checking through the pumpkins this morning and didnt even realise this one was there

Have had a read and its apparently known as an exploded pumpkin

That looks like the effect of variations in watering.

We have not watered them at all this season apart from when planted in!!

Yes, but we've had spells of very wet weather interspersed with not so wet. That could do it.
