Hello there
I have a couple of pumpkin plants on the go at the moment one is in a fair size tub and is trailing across into another (in the back garden)
Where is the best place for them to be in order to get the best pumpkin? I have a green house up the allotment which is mainly full of tomatoes and salad....
Thanks for any help
Dave
Definately don't put pumpkins in greenhouse. They don't do well inside
For a decent pumpkin it should already have set and been growing... best planted out onto a big pile of manure in late May/June, protect if weatehr is bad with a dutch light or similar glass frame structure. They can be grown in massive polytunnels, but the big pile of poo trick is still pretty much a given....

Indeed!
After a rubbish start our pumpkins are going great guns on piles of manure!, just getting bigger and bigger.
Squash are going nicely to
Sorry Basfordlad but I disagree, I popped a couple of plants into the greenhouse rather than them ending up in the compost. They took over and gave me four very usefull fruits. One to the grandsprog for hollowing out.
I think you're a tad late David P, but somewhere where it has 15 hours of sun every day should do nicely.
Cheers, Tony.

I also happen to disagree. Take a look at the following link and reconsider if pumpkins are not suited to greenhouses. Its all about conditions and I wonder if you refer to high humidity? Just need good air circulation

Looks like I am rather wrong on this then!
My pumpkins have hardly moved this year due to the cold and damp conditions...I keep willing them on but they just don't want to know.

I knew I had done something wrong. ;D
