As usual I made up all my tubs, pots and wall baskets using a mix of B+Q general purpose compost, slow release fertiliser and water retaining crystals. They are normally gorgeous and thriving (so long as they are watered regularly) This year they have been very poor. I notice that the normal compost I buy had the makers name changed to Verve and the compost was very 'bitty' with bits of twig and other unidentifiables :-\ in it. Has anyone else used this general purpose compost and had poor results. I can also put some of it down to poor weather but think the compost had a lot to do with it.
There is a whole thread on Gardener's World website with hundreds of entries complaining about B&Q composts.
Found the thread for you.

We've had similar threads to all year.
Ive been thinking that we could collectively do a compost survey in the gallery where as we buy new stuff we post a picture of it give it a score for texture and perhaps on it performance later in the year. It might save a few people from another bag of woodchip and glass.
