Title: Our Show has been canceled this year
Post by: RenishawPhil on August 04, 2012, 17:37:06
Due the awful summer and lack of good produce the show has been canceled by the allotment society.

I can fully understand it but am annoyed as ive got a lovely big pumpkin growing and wanted to show it off

Ps.  Its the Atlantic Giant thanks to Dandy Town!

Looks like you are having to post a photo of it here..and show us what your big pumpkin looks like..  ;D

You've done well getting pumpkins growing on your plot. My surviving squash plants have only just started to grow and show first! :o flowers  ::)

Take it as a practise 'run' for something bigger and better for next year's show.. ;)

I think i will actually get enough squash for the year, averaging about 2 per plant, if fertliity had been good, then i would have around 5-6 per plant.

This is even with hand pollination, but made worse with the cold wet weather, when we we had that recent warm dry spell had loads to pollinate and they all seem to have taken off

My favourite ones so far are thelma saunders squash and blue banana , just because they look great!

We came very close to cancelling our show, but we''re carrying on as it's the only social event we have.
