Title: it's that time of year ago
Post by: qahtan on August 03, 2012, 23:44:29
went to a local farmer today, got fresh cut sweet corn 4 cobs for $2,  always dearer when you buy a small amount. also got a heaped 11 quart basket of large I mean large sweet freestone peaches, there was 49 of the large ones and 1 small one.  $4; that's about 2 pound 80.
But I am sorry to say that my lavenders has only empty seeds. runner beans
a dead loss, and we both love them, and they don't even  sell imported ones here
like you get in UK   qahtan

Very jealous of those peaches.  But finally got runner beans on the way and the batch I sowed middle June looking promising.  Boughten ones from Africa not very good.  Tend to be very tasteless, stringy and rubbery, prefer the romano style french beans.

Swings and roundabouts.  ;D  Enjoy those peaches.

I often wonder what the UK would do without Spain for warm weather vegetables ......  however what I recently saw imported as 'runner bean' was nothing other than a large , flat French bean.  Seems they can't grow them in Spain either.....

Mine are coming on slowly and I am very much looking forward to them.

Oh...peaches.. ::) I'm drooling of the thought of having big basket full of them. Yes..there is some in shops but they are not same than home grown ones and I didn't get even one single peach out of my own tree... ::)..which usually yields more than we can cope with.

I can finally see few set runnerbeans coming on..those plants have been slow to get going but hopefully in week or so I can have first taste of things to come.

Enjoy your hot day Qahtan.. ;D I  enjoyed our sun that showed its brilliance for couple of hours  ::)
