hi
a few months ago i did a post about rumors about people pinching veg's when u are not there!!
well know it has happend to me!!! >:(
someone has visited my plants and taken my courgettes!!!
i don't know who it was who do complain about :(
any ways to stop this thieving person
I would stick big sign next to the courgette plants saying "..and you can leave my courgette's alone, THIEVE!".
So it is very visible to anybody passing by or even from distance... ;D
That will show the thieve that his activity has been noticed..and it will keep others on their toes too.
If it would be me I would put two signs up..the other one saying..."and if I catch you it won't be your fingers that will be chopped off!..." ;D
Truly...complaining to 'powers to be' won't make any difference...nobody can't do anything..but make fuss in a quiet way and you are only offending those that do it.
My strawberries went they were netted. my raspberries went they were netted, birds, mice, two legged thieves who knows
so maddening, I hope you find out who it is, but I would'nt bet on it >:(
June.
With courgettes, I probably wouldn't mind a hand using them all :D Maybe it's someone who thinks you're away, or possibly thinks it's someone elses plot that they've been asked to keep an eye on while said person is on holiday?...
Which reminds me I better go and harvest some more tonight...
It may not necessarily be other plotholders, as others have been caught pinching veg from our plots.
We now lock the main gate all the time.
We had someone take lots of plums last year. At the next meeting it was pointed out to EVERYONE that is is classed as stealing and anyone found doing it would be off the site, no second chances. Luckily, we are a small site, don't know how it would work on a bigger one . Very nasty, stealing off your colleagues
I had a neighbour contact our local NHW as somebody had 'stolen' her black currents.
.........then someone pointed out they had seen deer in her garden. ;)

Oh deer!!!
I visited the Madrid botanical garden a few years ago. In the middle of it was a beautiful veg plot full of desirable leeks, cabbages, beans etc etc.
They had several large notices in several languages saying that all the plants were sprayed with poison so do not even think about taking them. Would this help?
Actually they also had a number of female gingko trees dropping seeds on the path. We brought some home, they germinated eventually, so we have a number of forest trees (admittedly small and young at the moment) in a small back yard......
Mmmmmm, gingko bonsai........
I had 6 sprout plants stripped to the stalk in December so I fenced in the plot. 2 weeks ago somebody had the cheek not only to nick a lettuce but cut out the head and leave the outer leaves!! At the same time all my raspberries that I was going to pick that weekend had been stripped to perfection >:( I have since sealed the gap in the fence wiring that had appeared.....
Often the thieves are kids who get through small spaces and think notices are a larf. One reason I don't have a lottie now, just my big garden is plenty
