I started digging a row of international kidney, and only managed to get half a bucket of spuds from row all rest were rotten. The tubers seem to be particularly sensitive. Worst so far. The tops were amongst the last to go and the stems were unaffected. Right next to them the tubers of PFA very small but still ok.
And Desiree are fine too. Tops totally gone but underground all is fine.
Both my sites have blight, but I dug up some good clean Charlottes yesterday. I am in a quandary as a lot of my Desiree have not been in the ground that long, and have green haulms with signs of blight. I feel like leaving the haulms on until they collapse to give the potatoes every chance to grow a bit more. Is this likely?
I agree, it is very upsetting to have put all that work into digging and planting just to have it go wrong.
I have desiree in the garden which have only got a few spots on the leaves. I have the same decision to take as to whether or not to leave them. I might have a firkle and see how the tubers look.
I've eaten my earlies so no probs there
Charlottes are nearly alll eaten
Kestrels and Sante are eaten, stored and still in the ground
Some of the storage have been thrown away so not sure whats going to happen with the rest. :-\ ??? ::)
