Title: Earwigs
Post by: goodlife on July 29, 2012, 17:34:43
...everywhere  ??? I haven't seen one on my plots for year and this year they seem to be everywhere, has anybody else notice their population explosion?
Not that they've coursed any damage..yet..but they one of the few insects that for some reason give the creeps  ::)

They like poppy seed heads.  Sometimes if you pick them to dry, you find no seeds in them only earwigs.   Not keen on them.  They used to inhabit the peg basket when I was a child.

I have got loads in my planters on the front....

They have been eating some of the flowers mainly marigolds, cosmos and sunflower.....

How do you get rid of them?

I dont like them either  (loads of them)

I felt the same about them until we watched Bill Odie talk about them and what caring little mothers they are to thier babies. I saw them in another light since then and put them somewhere safe when I find one!

Not a big fan and I too have a lot.

I've been collecting them in pots upturned on canes filled with scrunched up newspaper and drowing them. Now after pumpkinlover's post I feel terrible.
