Title: Greenhouse for drying?
Post by: Number Six on July 29, 2012, 11:48:31
Yet another newbie question; I'm aware of need to dry veg such as garlic and onions before storing and books suggest leaving them to dry in the sun. Great if you've got some sun but is it ok to leave them in the greenhouse (on racks) or would that be too hot and/or humid? Grateful for your thoughts as always!

I would think too humid, but see others at our place do just that year in year out. We use an old bedframe as a rack and cover it to keep the rain off. Good luck and well done for your crop!

Mine go under the caravan in mushroom trays, I have used a greenhouse but not one using for growing tomatoes etc.

I always dry mine in the greenhouse!

I'd have thought the greenhouse would be fine if you left the door open.

Many thanks for the replies - always nice to know what other people are doing. The garlic crop was no where near as successful as last year with many bulbs split or poorly formed but the shallots look ok and the onions are huge. So all worth drying properly for storage!
