I bought two tiny fruit trees from Lidl about a month ago, a fig (variety unknown) and a small mandarin. I have had citrus bushes before so know what to do there but the fig is an unknown quantity. At the moment I have it in a general purpose mixed with John Innes No 3 in a 6 inch pot (I said they where tiny) So where do I go from here. In the UK is it best to keep them in pots and move to unheated greenhouse in winter, or best to plant them out? What compost? How and what to feed? How to prune and when? Any advice would be helpful thanks :)

You will not need to do any pruning this year, otherwise you will cut off your crop for next year.
Checked my outdoor fig today and the first fig is almost ripe, but most will not ripen till September here in Glasgow.
