I was wondering if I can get some help.
I have lost most of my early and second early plants over the last month to blight.
The main crop have looked OK, until I noticed some of the plants have the lower leaves going yellow.
There isn't any sign of Blight or blackleg.
Therefore, could there be a deficiency of some sort?
Thanks for your help
I've been up and looked at my maincrop today and similarly have the same. I think as they are maincrop and the flowers are now seedheads, the lower leaves a) may be overshadowed by the top growth and/or b) naturally die back as they have done their job.
Hope it's not blight for you.
Ninny
This week I took off the haulms on my Desiree and Picasso due to blight. The Sarpo Mira, which have a higher resistance to blight, are fine but I noticed the lower leaves were yellowing. I think they done the same last year and were a good crop. I am sure they will be fine if the rest of the haulms are still green.
Thanks Ninny and Merv for replying.
Hopefully it's just natural die back (fingers crossed), as it doesn't look like blight.
Thanks for your help guys
