I go on holiday in 2 weeks so at this rate I might miss the first one, last year I was eating them 3 weeks ago
Out of about 30 odd plants various varieties I have 1 ....yes one plant actually bearing fruit....and they are still green......Ok...so they look like the amazon rain forest here and there but thats it..!!!!
Gazza
I only have one tomato from three plants. I only just noticed it so am hoping there are more on the way.
Had the first Ailsa Craig a week ago, and a single Roma yesterday. The AC were a bit tough skinned, I thought, but so nice to have something actually tasting of tomato.
We ate our first tomato today. I also have a Queen of Hearts just a tad short of being ready, the first big one by far, but I can't eat it as I need all the seeds I can get ;D ;D ;D
XX Jeannine
had a handful of sungolds so far,but no sign yet of my other normal early goto, Black Krim... the Garden Pearls are outside and looking sad....
My first one with colour is gardeners delight cannot wait! The garlic harvest is in and any day now the first tray of roast tomatoes and garlic will be int he oven.
The first Beefsteaks got pecked off by the hen raid i had a week ago.Cheeky buggers.
GH now has a hen guard!

Naughty hens ;D
Most of mine have barely set fruit so far..... ::)
This is the Giant Navikova I posted a pic of a couple of weeks ago. It hasn't got much bigger but it's almost ripe.

Sungold is not far behind
[attachment=2]
That's one for Giant Navikova, shame it started to turn and not grow larger though :'(
Not sure of the variety, I've heard of Gigant-10 Novikova and wondered is it the same one?

I've just been stripping off leaves with spots of L. Blight, so I might not get many more :'(

You are not alone. :(
Not a sausage here. :(
I already wrote some of this on another thread, so excuse me if you read that, but I've had a fair few Latah (from Realseeds) ripening outdoors with some cloche protection since the end of June. Red Alert quickly followed on. Sungold were a later sowing and a bit of an afterthought so mine are still green in the greenhouse. Actually all the greenhouse tomatoes are still green - gardeners delight and Alicante. The brandywines are setting very few fruit so far.
I've had a small handful of cherry tomatoes from my tumbler plants, but thats all.
Galina yellow just turning ;D
My outdoor toms have either been binned due to blight or have hardly set fruit yet alone started to turn colour! Those indoors look healthy still, but the fruit are very small and still very green! Hey ho! Looks like I'll be buying passata for sauces and soups this coming winter.
Tricia
Winecap, I like Latah too, a nice tomato. I'm not growing any this year though.
Don't lose heart Tricia, you never know perhaps we will have an Indian summer ;D
Hooray, the very first ripe tom, was a sungold after all and wonderful. Fingers crossed for the rest of the year now.

Soon my Precious Soon
Sorry Lord of the Rings moment, I have about 3 Tigerella just starting to turn
What's a tomato?
I've got two greenhouses with plants in, plus a lean-to - 25 in total - plus two beds outside - another 50 or so - and I've got about six green tomatoes in total. The fruit isn't setting and the blossoms are falling off. And one bed has blight, even though I've sprayed twice.
I normally reckon to freeze enough sauce and puree to last the year. I think it's tinned for me for the next twelve months. And as for chutney....
outdoor strillo are turning :)

lol hope they are good ones ;D
But sadly it looks like homegrown ripe tomatoes are going to be precious this year.
Sorry to hear that Trevor, I've got blight here on my toms too, inside and out :( Hoping I caught it early enough to at least get a few more ripe ones. I've removed loads of foliage and check twice a day for new spots. I love tomatoes :'(
So,thats a tomato....same here, both GH and PT have awesome green growth and the outdoors and hangers aint much different, just NO fruit amoungst em....well Pea sized.
No blight as yet,but the 30 or so glass jars I had planned to store Italian Marzano will now be filled with different amounts of water and set up "drum kit style"and played rythym section with 2 rhubarb stalks to the sun gods as mere pleading has fallen on deaf ears..... :(
Gazza
Just a quickie.
Of all the tomatoes I am growing it is Kimberley that has won the rioeneing race, last week I got 1 this week I got about a dozen of the same plant, bery short season tomato..worth looking into.
Way before anything else,oh and outdoors by the way.
XX Jeannine
Picked a couple for dinner yesterday but I have had a litany of tomatoe disaters this year so I wont be pasting many..
Outdoor toms are looking grim even with an early start.
Kimberley, not one I've tried, but good to know they are good, I'll keep my eye out for them :)

Same here, Trevor. Loads of greenery on the toms in the greenhouses, plus a few flowers (that I've been trying to pollinate with a pigeon feather and by shaking) but not a set fruit yet. Ones at the plot have lots of flowers, no set fruit either. Those for sale in the front garden, have had bud drop.
A fruitless season so far :'(
The jetstream is going northwards up the country so here's hoping for a late summer (I don't want and Indian one as that involves frost!)
Ninny
Jay, don't look for Kimberley I will pop some in with the corn seeds XX |Jeannine
Fingers crossed here Ninny for that late summer :)
Thank you Jeannine that would be super :)
I noticed my first tomato starting to turn red today - Gardeners delight!
I've got quite a lot of green toms in the green house. It's great to see them start to turn. I can't wait to try them out.
Just eaten my first sungold and it was delicious, gd still doing well :)
No signs of colour on any of mine yet.......I just know they are waiting for me to go on holiday..... ::)
I see signs, the very first signs, a faint change from green and on ferline under shelter but otherwise open. Its a large tomato as well :) strillo, small outdoor toms, are quickly getting red now but they only look like snacking toms, not a serious eater at all. I`m being good and waiting for real red before I pick the first one in 2012
Even after a week of sunshine, my greenhouse tomatoes are still green and most are very tiny. Some plants didn't put out fruiting spurs until they were three foot tall! My greenhouse is surrounded by trees though so doesn't get much sun and warmth. I want to get a new rhino one and put it in the paddock but we haven't had time to dig out the turf and put down footings so it may have to wait until next year.
My outdoor tomatoes were not doing good at all and went a greyish colour in the cold weather and rain. However, they are looking very healthy now and most have flowers on them.
I have had a bowl full of strillo from outside and now have 11 ferline almost red, they are under cover but not a greenhouse as such. I also got three ferline turning orange on outside plants. No sign of alicante turning yet. I am very pleased so far. I did stop all plants after 4 trusses and removed several leaves so the fruit is airy and I am taking any further flowers off as I will be more than happy to get my current crop as it is. It takes 2 months from fruit setting to start of ripening and then another two weeks to ripen and I don`t want green fruits in the second half of september. I am very pleased to have a very good crop of pretty big tomatoes this year
My first eating toms are from Purple Ukraine [in poly] and Lydls cherry toms both indoors and out. GD, Marmande, P Ukraine outside still green and so are Delicious and Amish Paste in the poly.
First cues from own seed also fruiting. One 'crystal lemon' and other a rather pale 'Wautoma', both parents showing from only 2 seeds :)
First of my biggies - Pervaya Lyubov, a lovely pink heart and Pink Berkeley Tie Dye- Mmmm ;D

Debs
First allotment tomato is Losetto closely followed by Maskotka.
Amongst others I've had a ripe 556g Yellow Oxheart.. . :)
My Mystery heritage lucky dip plant is starting to change colour, so it looks like that will be as big as its going to get.. And it's not that big I'm afraid .... Lots of minibel and tumbler toms ripened so far though! ;D
First black krim today, yum ;D
