My poor wet, cold corgettes are flowering but unfortunately they are all male flowers with not a baby courgette in sight. could this be the weather or fertiliser being washed out of the soil by the rain. I have never had this problem before. Help!!!
Panic not, the guys usually come first in abundance and wait for the ladies. The plants are just running late due to the awful weather.

I have had a problem this year with slugs eating the growing point on some plant so they are only producing males at the moment. There are various recipes for courgette flowers.
Basically dip in batter and fry.
We jostle for position, the dirt though holds us down,
the rain has fattened my belly, and produced a yellow crown.
Were all in this together, brothers of one stem,
I look the proper Green bizzness, a veggie creme de la creme !!!
Were all waiting for the girls to grow, some other males around me are weenie,
I on the other hand are large and prowd, a big boy amoungst Zucchini.
Im known locally as a Cucurbita pepo ovifera, to you that might sound posh,
but allotmenteers dont respect me, as my fine golden helmet goes in the batter""splosh""
OK....OK....ima veggie ,.....my life cycle ends in the pan
but ima male of the species with a swelling,
at least let me brush against the girls....""LIke any man"".... :-* :-* :-*
